Singers John Legend and Lizzo, and actresses Natalie Portman and Taraji P. Henson are among the Hollywood celebrities who’ve signed a letter pushing the defunding all police departments in the wake of the police involved death of Minneapolis man George Floyd.
The open letter claims that in 2017, $194 billion was spent on the police by America’s various governments even as police have “continued profiling, harassment, terror and killing of Black communities.”

The letter — which was also singed by Common, Jane Fonda, America Ferrera, Brie Larson, ACLU executive director Anthony Romero — goes on to insist that the money spent on police would be better spent on “building healthy communities,” or to go “to the health of our elders and children, to neighborhood infrastructure, to education, to childcare, to support a vibrant Black future.”

If a ‘celebrity’ has a nice rack., I might care what they say... a little.
That’s their ‘money maker’. It’s all of their significance, and they know it.

What do these people propose to replace the police? Militias? Regional war lords? Military Governors? How about the courts? Should we replace them with tribunals? Upon the decision of a tribunal in a capital case, should there be no appeal with executions carried out immediately? There’s a lot that they haven’t considered it seems.
But, but, who would investigate all those fake racial hate crimes that happen every other week? Jussie Smollett would be devastated.
All these ‘celebrities’ are as influential as their ability to stick out their boobs and their behinds.
I can appreciate that. What they have to say though - not so much.
Yeah, that’s all we need. Mobsters and warlords “protecting” neighborhoods instead of the police.
Can’t say I’ve wasted much time with the work of most of these celebs over recent years.

The left wants all local police to be abolished, to be replaced with a national police force like the KGB that will go after people for “political crimes.”

John Legend had one or two good songs; the real reason his status has been elevated in the past few years is his virulent anti-Trump tirades. He and his “supermodel” wife, who looks like an alien from another planet, are continually rewarded with media appearances and magazine spreads since they advance the cause and are a photogenic mixed-race couple, so the media has dictated.
Had anyone ever heard of John Legend 5 years ago? He’s a useful tool.
