On May 13, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced that 31,000 state employees will be laid off for two days per pay period [one day a week], starting May 27 and running through July 25. This arrangement takes advantage of a federal program known as Work Share to reduce costs in the face of huge revenue shortfalls caused by the COVID-19 epidemic and lockdown.
Probably save us money.
That is so damned WRONG!!!!!
No doubt they'll get paid retroactively for those missed days at some point.
Our governments are a money racket, for leaders and workers, plain and simple.
And we tax-paying, law-abiding, patriotic workers are the schmucks.
I think I’ve had enough now. Time to end it.
Well, thats $78 per hour for each of those 8 non-work hours. What a scam!
More than one way to loot.
that amount would be multiplied by 31,000 +/- state employees.
I am a state employee (not Michigan) and this pisses me off!!!!!!
so the articles is actually accurate?
sorry. misread. thought you said you were Michigan employee.
The feds should stop it, take the funds back.
Hell, I tried to return the stimulus payment. I was told on the phone that it didn't work like that, and that I had to keep it.
So with the stimulus I bought myself a new PC rig to replace the cheap Windows 7 machine that was on its last legs. At last I can play Fallout 4. Don't worry the entire setup was made in America :-P
Sickening isnt it. When Half Whit announced the furloughs we thought now well see some action since its hitting Government employees. Huh they get three day weekends and get $600 dollars a week to fund it.
I agree. but someone must have designed the legislation with this in mind.
Remember, we’re all in this together! /s
ANd, those state workers were automatically signed up for unemployment, they did not have to go thru the hell that is signing up. She did it for then, cos they’re more important than the rest of us.
Agree
Wow! The Witch is making the rest of us in America pay her employees...
it really is. Why would you partially lay off an “essential” employee just to scam the rest of the taxpayers.
