Susan Rice’s consciousness of guilt
legalinsurrection ^ | May 19, 2020 | William A. Jacobson

Posted on 05/20/2020 7:22:42 AM PDT by MarvinStinson

People who actually played “by the book” don’t need to write last-day-on-the-job memos to self about how they played “by the book”

On Obama’s last day in office, January 20, 2017, National Security Advisor Susan Rice wrote an email memo to herself regarding the investigation into Michael Flynn and a January 5, 2017, meeting attended by Obama, Biden, Rice, Sally Yates, and James Comey. The email was mostly public previously, though supposedly classified portions were redacted.

Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell just declassified most of the rest of the memo.

That declassified portion provided, as to the January 5 meeting:

Director Corney affirmed that he is proceeding “by the book” as it relates to law enforcement. From a national security perspective, Camey said he does have some concerns that incoming NSA Flynn is speaking frequently with Russian Ambassador Kislyak. Camey said that could be an issue as it relates to sharing sensitive information. President Obama asked if Comey was saying that the NSC should not pass sensitive information related to Russia to Flynn. Comey replied ”potentially.” He added that he has no indication thus far that Flynn has passed classified information to Kislyak, but he noted that “the level of communication is unusual.”

The President asked Corney to in.form him if anything changes in the next few weeks that should affect how we share classified information with the incoming team. Corney said he would.

The significance of that portion is that it shows Flynn was doing nothing wrong. His conversations, as incoming National Security Advisor, were not illegal.

It also shows how granular Obama’s involvement was. Remember, Sally Yates said she was shocked to find out from Obama about the surveillance of Flynn:

“Yates had no idea what the president was talking about, but figured it out based on the conversation. Yates recalled Comey mentioning the Logan Act, but can’t recall if he specified there was an ‘investigation.’ Comey did not talk about prosecution in the meeting.”

It was not clear to Yates from where the President first received the information. Yates did not recall Comey’s response to the President’s question about how to treat Flynn. She was so surprised by the information she was hearing that she was having a hard time processing it and listening to the conversation at the same time.”

But what’s most important to me is what we’ve known for a while from the previously disclosed portions. Rice felt the need on her last day on the job to write a CYA memo that three times used the term “by the book.”

“President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities “by the book”. The President stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective. He reiterated that our law enforcement team needs to proceed as it normally would by the book.”

“Director Corney affirmed that he is proceeding “by the book” as it relates to law enforcement.”

Who writes such a memo (Rice) and who speaks those words (Obama, Comey)? If you are actually playing by the book, you don’t need to say you are playing by the book.

It’s a consciousness of guilt of people who may not have expected the Barr Inquisition (no one does), but who knew they were doing something untoward.

Maybe illegal, maybe not, but something on which the light of day would not reflect kindly. Hence, the memo to throw some shade.

The day before Susan Rice visited all the Sunday shows, telling lie after lie about the Obama Administration, about Bengazi and other matters, Susan’s mother asked her to stop and think.

“Why are YOU going to be the one on TV, explaining all of this, why isn’t Hillary doing it herself, when she was actually there?”
Susan replied: “Because Obama asked me to do it, since Hilary is right now in a state of exhaustion. She’s a bit overwhelmed from all the republican attacks.”

So Susan, forever to be known as a Paid Liar, took another one for The Team. She still doesn’t seem to get that her credibility is shot full of holes.

Obama was spying on the Trump campaign/transition with the knowledge of the GOPe (Gang of 8, etc.) and without warrants. I’d bet my house this goes way beyond Flynn.

Rice has long been a favorite of Obama. He promoted her around despite all criticism. She’s the likely VP pick now, too.

Not always. I've left a lot of paper trails when I thought there might be some confusion as to what I did or why. And it has served me well on various occasions when I had to file suit to get what was rightly mine or my firm's (usually involving unpaid fees). Never lost in court BTW.

That said, Rice is guilty as hell.

Susan Rice said that deserter Bergdahl served with “distinction.”

I’m not defending her. I am just saying that smart people cover their asses from time to time (again, not saying she’s smart either).

Yep, Obama will get her in for saving his rear - you may be on to something.

Curtis Ried was her assistant. I wonder if the redacted area is a separate email of hers, and one of Ried’s email addresses.?

Any campaign season fact reveals of the obama reign of terror will be smeared as “election interference.” It’s so obvious even Stevie Wonder can see what’s coming. The Uniparty pushed obamagate into election season to bury it and bully Trump voters into voting the GOPe down ticket. Gowdy flat out admitted it when he said on Fox last week: “Now is not the time for an inter party fight.”

Perhaps it’s just fear of punishment.

**************

Dems have no reason to fear punishment, or anything e;so for that matter. What are the Repukes going to do to them?

In fact, this explains why Dems are as underhanded and lawless as they are. Why hesitate to punch your opponent when you know they won’t punch back?

Weakness invites aggressive behavior. Always has, always will. The GOP just cannot seem to understand this simple fact.

I felt compelled to put it out on Twitter to try to get it to spread (like Kamala’s legs when Willy was in a “mentoring” mood.)

Other than 1 reporter at CBS, the mainstream media has ignored this entire story.

That is the only fight the GOP ever engages in. Amongst itself.

Hillary Clinton lying about why her employee, US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens was murdered is another clear example of consciousness of guilt. That may have kept her out of the White House but for some reason, it sure hasn't put her in the The Big House.

I remember that. “He served with honor and distinction!”
She was probably stifling a giggle when she said it, knowing
the media slaves would support whatever justification she spat out. One traitor for three terrorists! What a deal.
