Restaurants, bars and hairdressers to reopen on Monday, 2 weeks earlier than planned; entry shutdown caused heavy economic damage to country dependent on the tourism industry.
Italy will reopen to tourists from early June and scrap a 14-day mandatory quarantine period, the government said Saturday, as it quickened the countrys exit from the coronavirus lockdown.

Not sure if this tourism policy applies to only EU countries, but hoping the U.S. will soon be included.
Yes, they’ve definitely solved the overtourism problem in Venice.
I guess they would rather risk the coronavirus than starve to death. The whole lock down quarantine was the stupidest thing thats ever happened in the history of mankind.
You said it!
Trouble now is, the patient no longer has a heart beat or pulse... so unless Bernie’s vacation takes on an Italian flavor, they’re gonna open for....nobody.
Yeah, you know, because quarantining all the healthy people doesn’t really work at all.
This is a good test case to see which side is right...
Agree. Holding out hope that my vacation to Italy in late August may still be viable.
Lemmings off the cliff.
Panicked by the Zero Population Growth folks (Bill Gates, et al.) and the Climate Change Greenies (Dems, Greta et al.). I guess they'll get their wish when the famines hit.
Too late for my group of 6. We had 9 days planned for August 17. Rome, Venice, and Florence. The travel company cancelled the trip because they said even if Italy reopens they were told there would be too many staffing issues at hotels, etc. now we have to try and reschedule.
We had one planned starting August 17. The travel company cancelled it.
Ahtsa good!
We booked our trip directly. We contacted the hotels and villa owner we booked with and all said we can wait until the end of June to cancel and rebook or get refunds.
It will be viable. Right now they have opened only to other eu countries as the virus has moved to the us, uk and Russia. But expect it to open to the usa in July. Unless cases balloon to 200k dead
The dam is breaking. If Italy opens, most of Europe will scramble to open. Airlines will start flying internationally again. No one wants to lose on summer tourism. Whether you feel comfortable enough to go, is up to you.
Do you have any source for this?
Thats good. We have 6 gals going and it was super hard to coordinate dates for the cancelled trip. Now we have to do it again. Ugh
Will you try to rebook?
Good for Italy.
Yes were going to rebook as soon as we can. Waiting on the travel company to get back to work. Theyre on limited staff now.
