The more people that quickly return to work, the more people there will be earning paychecks, and the more people who will spend and send that money back into the economy.

The Great Depression II people fear might be shorter than we think. Looks like President Trump most likely saved over 2.2 million lives (only 80789 today lost) with social distancing restrictions and kept the economy from being destroyed at the same time.

When people were layoff, Trump Administrations made sure people got paid extra money to help them during the shutdown and provided aid to small businesses.

As the States and local governments open back up business are rehiring their help.

A lot of people saved money while sitting at home, they are now ready to spend it on stuff.

The market will turn around if State Governors are smart and start opening for business. They can do this by only closing areas of concern and encouraging Mask use until the Covid-19 disappears.

A lot of people will stay home to make more money. It is happening already.

“A lot of people will stay home to make more money. It is happening already.”

I am not an unemployment expert here but I think that is up to the States to ensure this does not happen. The State is paying out money too, not just the federal government.

I think if a business reopens and calls the help back to work, the workers have to go back or loose their unemployment checks. I have read articles already were the help are upset at the employer for opening back up causing the help to loose free money.

Oh really? What jobs are they going back to? Whose money will they spend?

There is NO solid analysis of what will come as yet because people are in denial. The epidemiology of the economy is likely to be that it will get a LOT worse before things improve, particularly given all the corollary factors which are best described as dominoes at the bottom of a slow moving, man-made landslide. .02

Until the unemployment insurance runs out, the unemployed are not really suffering.

“Disappear?”

It is possible for Covid-19 to mutate into less dangerous to humans where we do not see it often (this has happen with other outbreaks before) or it can mutate into something more dangerous.

In the very near future all these folks that got laid off will find out there is NO JOB to go back to because the business Closed. A Conservative estimate is at least 50%, but look for around 75%

Those who worked for businesses who received paycheck protection money with which to pay (and retain) their employees will stop getting paid as soon as their employer calls them back to work.

“Oh really? What jobs are they going back to? Whose money will they spend?”

Jobs are coming back in the South: My sister in-law return to hers, step-daughter return, wife return to her job and many others return their jobs. A lot of Mon and Pa successful businesses are bring their people back...

Money being spend: The unemployment check, the extra 600, and the $1200 per adult. Our tax dollars being spent to help people in need during the White House directed shut down.

President Trump has a plan. Trust the plan.. The only weak part in the plan is the State Governors. They must follow the plan... President Trump would have never shut things down without a plan to reopen and restart the economy. The plan has already started.

“...or it can mutate into something more dangerous.”

Sure it can but I am not aware it has ever happened. The normal course of a virus is it mutates itself out of existence over time.

“encouraging Mask use”

Dumbest idea ever. Masks do NOTHING but contaminate. They have no magical properties to protect you. They simply look retarded as they are worn by people ignorant of the facts.

My "guess" is that your numbers are high.

There are indeed plants that are closing and not-re-opening:

Maybe you can help: I saw a story last week that 5m may have already returned to work.

Things are already open in AZ again. Some restrictions on size of gatherings, # of people in a facility-—but there is no way to enforce that and soon that will just evaporate.

It’s possible that it happened with Spanish Flu in the fall of 1918. That’s when younger people started dying. It’s also possible that there were two strains. I think the debate is ongoing.

Masks do NOTHING but contaminate.

Masks if properly donned/doffed, don't contaminate. But people need to be vigilant on properly donning/doffing. The majority do not do properly.
