You need material to process for opening up to do any good. Ranchers are slaughtering animals because the bottom has dropped out on demand. It takes money and space to keep unwanted animals alive. And the government won’t tell anyone how long that will be.
I’d welcome a couple steers. I’d butcher them myself. Knowing how to do this helps a lot. LOL.
I find it hard to believe a feedlot would kill a few steers or even hogs. It would be cheaper to feed them than to lose the whole steer.
I haven't looked, but I am sure there are YouTube videos on how to kill and gut chickens, pigs and cows.
And on how to pluck chickens, scald and skin hogs, skin cows, etc.
And on how to butcher, cutting up all of the above.
Instead of trucking critters to slaughterhouses and food processors, truck them to cities and towns.
Require folks to watch the videos on how to do it, sell the critters to them directly and they have at it.
The freshest of meat, maybe cheaper.
City, suburban, and townsfolks get to learn more of where their food comes from.
A great homeschooling opportunity.
Families can split up a hog or cow.
Fowl are no problem, small enough.
then the ranchers are stupid - they should find other ways to seel off the animals, plenty of other butchers, small processing services. people are still buying meat. ranchers are just selfish greedy if they are doing what you say - they will pay a bigger price if killing their stock needlessly.
