New York Post ^ | April 25, 2020 | Sara Dorn

California beachgoers crowded the sand as some communities opened their shorelines during a regional heat wave.

Coronavirus lockdowns were lifted at beaches across Orange County as temperatures surpassed 80 degrees.

Photos show some beachgoers gathered Friday in crowds that appear to violate social distancing rules.

Nope, not dumb. Smart, very smart. Much smarter than I thought Californians were capable of.

You go Californians. Go, go, go to the beach. Get sun. Get some fresh, salty air. Get exercise. Get some frivolity. Get de-stressed. Get a life, in other words.

(The original headline on the main page had the Cowa-dum-ba part.)

I think people are calculating their risk and decide it’s worth their risk to go to the beach. American life is not going to standstill for the next 18 months.

The Great Outdoors is WAY different from indoors.

When you have jackasses like Garcetti and Newsom insinuating that the house arrests would/will go on for months...what did they think would happen? People are saying enough.

So.... how do you determine the difference between a group of people from various places versus a group such as a family or bunch of roommates that has been living under the same roof? If folks have been living under the same roof why would they separate on the beach?

I’m sick and tired of the media, Conservative and Liberal, telling people they are stupid if they don’t continue to cage themselves. We are a free People and we can make decisions for ourselves. Media elitists and wanna-be gubernatorial tyrants can not take our rights away. Enjoy your time at the beach, Californians.

Exactly. Some @sshole from New York City who is perfectly content to hide under her bed for six months is actually going to criticize people who aren’t cowards like her? LOL.

Exactly. It’s about QUALITY of life, not QUANTITY. Who wants to live to 100 if those years are spent alone in your home

Much smarter to stay inside and let our economy fail until we all starve to death. Just ask our elite betters, they’ll tell you over and over again.

Shame on the NY Post - there is absolutely nothing wrong with what’s going on in that photo.

The chances of getting Covid 19 on a sunny, windy, ocean beach with people spaced 30 feet apart are exactly ZERO.

Having fun on a beach is “stupid.” Cramming yourself into subway cars filled with mutants from every Third World dump is “cosmopolitan.”

No wonder there are more and more people in this country who wouldn’t give a damn if New York City was quarantined forever.

I’d think you’d be a lot safer on a California beach than in a New York subway.

That said, I’ve never give to the beach and approached within 20 feet of anyone other than members of the party I came with, or touched any item that we hadn’t brought with us.

You can’t tell, from a photo, whether people are keeping distance from people other than members of their household, because you can’t tell who’s in the same household.

What this is really about is jealousy.

NYers know that, because of stupid decisions by their political leadership - not cancelling parades, etc. - they really do need to suffer through strict isolation for another month or three.

But the rest of the country doesn’t.

And NYers hate that anyone else should be able to have any fun when they can’t.

Our elected leaders are being tested and coming up short.

Top down “leadership” can only work by force of law. If the people are no longer afraid of the law, you will have civil disobedience.

Have you ever seen a video of a dam failing. Usually is is not from the top down. It is usually when water has found it’s way through the dam and starts as a small leak, then it gets bigger. Eventually the structural integrity gives way and the dam fails.

We are seeing all around the nation small “leaks” have individual and groups have demonstrated they have had enough. It is only a matter of time before the dam gives way.

Temps in the 80’s, lots of sunlight with Vitamin D and ultra violet virus killer, fresh air, free Dopamine from being in the fresh air, good exercise and sunlight = feeling better about life and family.

Meanwhile in NYCity, they are sending sick people to Nursing Homes to die and kill the other patients in the Nursing Homes.

Lets see, would I rather be on a nice warm beach in California with friends/family or sent to die and kill innocents in a NY York nursing home?

Flu seems to disappear when weather warms up. Maybe SARS-CoV-2 will disappear too. And if such is the case, then quarantine and social distancing is precaution for dark and dreary winter, not summer.

We’ll know in roughly two weeks if these people are playing Russian roulette with virus.

I live here. I'd say it's split fifty-fifty: Those hiding under their beds and begging for MORE restrictions, and those who have had it and are out walking their dogs, biking, BBQing, and working under the table sans mask.

Just like most states, I would guess.

‘I think people are calculating their risk and decide it’s worth their risk to go to the beach.’

that is exactly what is happening, and many are seeing through the one size fits all lockdown nonsense...
