Pence says coronavirus could be 'largely' behind us by Memorial Day weekend

Vice President Mike Pence said Thursday that he thinks the coronavirus pandemic could "largely" be "behind us” by Memorial Day Weekend.

“Am I going to be on my boat and fishing in early June, Mr. Vice President?” Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera asked Pence on his radio show.

“If you look at the trends today, I think by Memorial Day Weekend we will largely have this coronavirus epidemic behind us,” said Pence, who is chair of the White House coronavirus task force. “State and local officials will begin to reopen activities, you’re going to see states ahead here begin to do that.”

I think Trump has known the truth about all this since day one, but they backed him into a corner so he had to do something.

He did something, but he’s not bringing things back online fast enough. Six weeks ago life was normal and now we’re taking about rumored food shortages? In the USA? In the 21st century?

I give Trump/Pence a 40% chance of being reelected at this point, decreasing by half a point per day.

Pence proves everyday he’s the smartest guy in the room. Trump would be lost without him......

The nations hospitals are now well equipped for any spike. Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about this?

Yep, really grim.

We better stay in hiding until it really collapses and we’re shooting our neighbors so they don’t object to our cooking their cat in their oven.

If the electricity is still on, that is.

Trump needs to stop the daily presser......he’s dying up there and America is tired of watching this dueling with the nitwits. It’s not a TV show Donald......

But he’s losing support with the American public. He’s getting exposed.

I think he means the KungFlu, but look what has happened in five weeks. Memorial Day is 32 days (4.6 weeks) away. We’ll be having a memorial for the America that used to be, a mere ten weeks earlier.

The way people in “power” are acting through this whole thing went beyond mind-boggling over a month ago and just keeps on.

Because the goalposts have been moved. It’s no longer about that, because that didn’t work.

Now it’s about whatever causes enough pain that the American electorate relents and just elects a democrat in November so this will all go away.

What will we be left with by then, though. Why doens’t anyone ever talk about THAT?

40% sounds about right. A lot of it depends on the activity of the virus. If we get it under 100,000 deaths and the nation returns to normal, then President Trump will have a strong case to get re-elected. If we are still dealing with a 2nd wave this fall and sports do not return, then yeah Slow Joe will become the next President, fair or not.

I’m standing on the gunwale, holding onto a guy rope and looking at the water.

The country is disintegrating. Over the flu.

I didn’t vote for fifty governors to decide my fate in a situation like this, hell, I didn’t even vote for the governor I’m stuck with.

I voted for a president, and he passed the buck.

If you believe in the Constitution, it is the states that have the power.

You should have paid more attention to your gubernatorial race!

Trump screwed up. He should have lifted the state of emergency last week. We now know about the workings of coronavirus, its aggressiveness and its lethality...we’ve got a pretty good idea what we’re dealing with. Are we 100% “contained”, no but the pandemic aspect of this is over. This is no Andromeda Strain. This might be classified as slightly more aggressive than seasonal flu. We can now add coronavirus to a long list of other killers in this country...killers far more aggressive than coronavirus.

There’s a lot that we do not know about China (thank China). It’s not just us. Western Europe got hit hard. So we can’t really blame President Trump on this. Now that we see data from NYC, an estimated 1/5 of the city developed antibodies to the virus with 0.5% fatality rate. We should go from there and plan accordingly. If 100% of Americans caught the virus, that’ll mean over 2 million dead. Realistically, the number would be more like a million to a million and half dead if around 70% got infected.

It’s essentially over. But now politics and money-grabbing are perpetuating it. Democrats want to tease it out into another big lock-down in the fall with the goal of throwing President Trump out of office. The People want their freedom and livelihoods back. Everyone else can stay home or go the hospital as needed.
