When it was announced I was wondering how worldometer would handle it.
Guess they didn’t want to backtrack through all the dates and just stuck them on “today”.
Imagine the medical system gets a lot more gov’t cash for covid vs pneumonia deaths.
A lot those reported are from the weekend. Some places do not get all the week reports in until Tuesday. There is a trend if you look back at other Tuesday reports being high.
Now New York city decided to make an adjustment with the people who die at home. Before they were not reporting those people.
There is debate if those people die from Coronavirus or not. A lot of the deaths were heart attacks. Now Coronavirus has been reported to cause heart attacks in people with heart problems already. Chicken or the egg debate.
I am sure people here are going to fight over your post. Both sides have valid points. Just bad reporting by New York city and I see no reason to fight over it.

New York City today has reported 3,778 additional deaths that have occurred since March 11 and have been classified as "probable," defined as follows: “decedent [...] had no known positive laboratory test for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) but the death certificate lists as a cause of death “COVID-19” or an equivalent" [source]. We will add these to the New York State total as soon as it is determined whether the historical distribution can be obtained

They are in a rush to reclassify every uninsured patient who has died in 2020 as a COVID death so that Trump will pay for it.
The US is currently showing 666 thousand cases.
