I prefer to be exposed after I've had a vaccine.
You may have a LOOOOOOOOOONG wait. Developing a vaccine for a virus is tricky. You can't just pull one out of your arse. And I would not take the word of Dr. Tony, a man who has failed to deliver an AIDS vaccine for over thirty years, that they'll have one in 18 months.
Or they may never find one.
Any vaccine that appears on the market in 18 months or less is likely to be a face-saving measure and a fraud.

You may have a LOOOOOOOOOONG wait. Developing a vaccine for a virus is tricky. I totally agree. And, as you say, it may never happen. But, some effective and easily obtainable drugs will come along to treat it.
