“They know how to avoid catching viruses.”

I clearly am mocking the terror filled out there. Yes, you can mitigate your exposure. Wash your hands, keep your distance, be mindful of touching your face, and notice what you touch.

The fact that you don’t have it doesn’t mean you weren’t exposed. I mean, have you absolutely sanitized every thing you bring in the house? Do you open your mail with gloves? I could go on and on.

It’s a virus. Herd immunity will put an end to the hiding, and the predicted spikes, etc.

As far as we can tell, there’s a 98.5% survival rate. I’m in a high risk group, but I like those odds. I don’t want it, I don’t want to try and get it, but I don’t want to see my country collapse.

Here’s your mistake. You think the 98.5% applies to you, no way. If you’re in a high risk group the death rate of those effected is between 15% to even 20%. So you hang on to that 98.5% which doesn’t even come near applying to you.

You get COVID-19 you have a 1 in 5 chance of dying if you are 65 and older and or have risk factors.

If the virus manages to invade your body, you will have it. How it will affect you depends upon many factors. You would be surprised at how effective a solution of bleach and water on a damp towel is for killing viruses. Works on your hands, too. As long as you sanitize your hands after touching any unknown surface, you can touch your face all you want. As far as sanitizing everything that comes in, that's what my nurse family members do at the facilities they work in. They have to. They are in direct contact with infectious people daily. When they come home from work, they walk from the garage to the washroom and immediately dump their clothes in the washing machine. This is usually after they have already changed clothes once at the end of their shift. They then walk straight to the shower. They have worked with everything from COVID to AIDS to measles to tuberculosis. They are isolation nurses and they have been doing this for years. If everyone operated like they do, opening this country back up would not be a problem. But, as long as you have the flubros and careless individuals walking around, it's a different story.
