Tell the Democrat Governors that “Mutiny On The Bounty” was one of my all time favorite movies. A good old fashioned mutiny every now and then is an exciting and invigorating thing to watch, especially when the mutineers need so much from the Captain. Too easy!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 14, 2020

Setting Whitmer and her lackeys on a row boat in the south pacific would seem a fitting punishment.

“In other words, states have all powers not granted to the federal government by the Constitution and that includes commerce and the states can give guidelines on opening up and not Feds-is this not the case?”

Not under a national emergency, which was declared on 1/31. Each state also declared their own state emergencies. Under the National Emergency Act, the President gets additional powers.

BUT yesterday he said she wanted the governors to handle their states, that he wants it done at a local level. But on the other hand he’s not going to let a state fail. But the governor’s all want to be re-elected, and keeping people home and destroying the economy won’t be good for that.

He doesn't have to do anything. Let the mid-Western states open for business. Do you think New Yorkers are going to like that one bit? This is actually genius, as it will put the dems squarely on the side of holding people back.

If the power to open up rest with the states, then the power to close down also rest exclusively with them. Democrat governors and their media supporters who were late to the game should be careful when playing the blame game.

He may not win, but he fights. Team Blue is not used to counter attacks, having made the all but illegal.

It is making work uncomfortable though. The old ladies screaming about being triggered are getting tiresome

I hope a great many are pulling their powerboat on a trailer.

“...But I am a State’s Rights person myself and in an ideal world the states would have a lot more freedom, but honestly they don’t.“

So long as the state doesn’t unconstitutionally oppress its citizens. As Governor Cuomo said “Our nation doesn’t have a king” so we can ask “Does New York have a King?”.

But doesn’t POTUS have authority over interstate commerce?

If a consortium of states are conspiring to defy a pending opening and return to normal commerce as it were, doesn’t that violate his authority?

Seneca County in Upstate NY just extended their state of emergency through mid-May.

As of yesterday, Seneca County had 16 positves and 1 death.

I suppose he’s talking about disaster declarations. He has authority to lift that, and if he does, there go a lot of benefits to the state at issue. That might effectively force the hand of a governor.
But I don’t know. :)

Yup, and he’s now got the Yankees yammering about states rights and quoting the founders about the Republic! Great job!

Ok, I love the Prez, but I am not sure I follow the analogy. Is Trump Bligh? The story didnt end well for most of the characters in that movie.

Yes, but which version...Gable or Gibson?

The answer could tell us many things.
