So how come we don’t lock down every year because of the flu?

Because unlike other flu's the WuFlu is highly contagious - infecting a large number of people in very short order and sending a disproportionately large number to hospitals, overwhelming the medical system. At least that's the standpoint from which the government and experts are acting.

Why are we not in lockdown over that?
