Pollak: 5 Reasons to Stop Freaking Out About Coronavirus
Breitbart ^ | 28 Feb 2020 | Joel Pollak

Posted on 02/28/2020 7:58:49 PM PST by lasereye

Coronavirus is an “info-demic,” a panic caused by the spread of partial and often misleading information about a health risk, sometimes deliberately.

The virus is real, and a small number of people have been infected. But it is going to pass.

It is an unpleasant respiratory illness, but it is not an organ-destroying horror like Ebola. Precautions are being taken, a vaccine will emerge, and life will continue as usual.

Here are five specific reasons to chill out.

1. Coronavirus is a familiar illness, and not as bad as others. It is from the SARS family — and less deadly.
.
.
.
2. The U.S. response has been exceptionally good. There have only been 16 cases thus far, none deadly. President Donald Trump bought precious time by stopping travel to China last month — a step critics said was overly drastic. Democrats are screaming about funding and staff cuts that never actually happened.
.
.
.
5. The same people who want you to panic about coronavirus want you to panic about everything.

Good response.

Remember to wash behind your ears. The sand will get deep in there.

Your denial is amazing. Go look up Normalcy Bias. You have it good.

And, really stop focusing on the “you aren’t dying on this.” You are not going to die from this. You probably won’t get sick. But it will impact everyone in a significant way.

Using your “it’s the flu” argument, there is still another month in flu season. Say there is an outbreak in your town. Where are those people going to go—the local hospital? Good luck with that. We should call this the Joseph and Mary virus...because there ain’t’t room at the inn. The beds are already full.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

“The number of people who contracted COVID-19 in this country is what, Four?:”

That will be four separate clusters before another week is gone.

All were very sick before they showed up for the arduous process of CDC testing and most certainly spread it before they got there.

Seattle, Portland and the CA Bay Area.

Everyone has been through those parts at least once.

“One day people will reflect on the COVID-19 panic and how political correctness and the intential obfuscation of facts in the self censored media and public pronouncements of “experts” contributed to the fear.”

Absolutely true.

But you say it as if truth matters in the media war.

From your link: “The man reported first symptoms January 14 and died two weeks later, was found to have damage to the alveoli in both of his lungs and injury to his liver that may have been caused either by infection by the coronavirus or by the drugs used to treat him, the report said. There was less substantial damage to the heart tissue, suggesting that the infection “might not directly impair the heart” Whew. Eats your lungs, may damage your liver, but your ticker is spared.

This is like earthquakes in California. Yes, u take seriously a quake that is not the “big one”. Not to freak out about, but to learn from and prepare for the “big one”. This Coronavirus does not seem to be Ebola level, but it is a valuable practice run for the big one.

How many were in China the first couple of weeks?

You think this is almost over (for some reason). It’s just started here.

And we are so far behind the ball in contact tracing and testing it’s sad.

And how is it contained? I don’t know...China shut the country down.

We're not China....nor their culture in how they view illness and their different lifestyles. Let alone how their Government responds to such events. Plus they're a highly superstitious people. They are not good at making good judgements either.

https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2020/02/28/2rd-us-coronavirus-case-unknown-origin-santa-clara-county/

There’s now two confirmed cases of community spreading which means there is at least two.clusters forming or have already formed since only 20% are.sick sick the other 16 or so folks who statistically are sick, shredding virus everywhere they go are still out there walking into stores, restaurants, schools, work every day. This doesn’t count the patient zero for each cluster who also is in the wild. There is probably a zero.chance they find and quarantine all the contracts before they spawn gen 2 and by gen 3 with community spreading you almost cannot track everyone the whole community needs to go on lock down. Its two outs and two strikes in inning one in California right now.

“No one should panic, but when your arguments not to panic are so bad...people will panic.”

The best marketing team the western world has ever known is totally failing.

They are acting like they believe the truth actually matters, and wins a media war.

Total fail.

I bet you are correct!

Nobody in my town, nor even in this area, in the state I live in, or even in this state, has the Coronavirus.

There are two or three camps on FR.
1. It’s mild, not to worry, flu is 100,000 more deadly in sheer numbers. It’s just a flu bug.
2. Exponetial growth is expected, it is out of control, stock up on three months of food and supplies, shelter in place.
3. Those who haven’t decided yet.

“This is the first out of the first inning in the US.”

Still pitching to the first batter.

The count is 3-1 in the top of the first. Nobody out.

I'm not arguing that they weren't very sick.

But, sick with what? The Flu? COVID-19?

Again I ask, how many confirmed cases do we currently have that have originated in this country??

Two? Three? Four?

We have deaths every day in hospitals due to sudden respiratory syndrome. They are labeled as such. SRS can be caused by a host of pathogens, influenza A/B H1N1,H1N5, thirteen different strains of pneumonococal bacteria, SARS,MERS,COVID19 the list is long. Right now none of those cases have been tested post mortem for.COVID19 since the CDC has not been testing on purpose they just changed the rules yesterday after getting burned by the first California case we will see a flood of cases soon it’s.inevitable how do you think these people got it in the community these people crossed paths with a spreader who is still out their. Korea has tested hundreds of thousands in a few days the CDC in a month has less than 500 they flat out were not looking for it inside the general health community. So we have no idea how many of the hundreds of daily deaths due to respiratory issues nation wide are actually covod19 we will know more as testing ramps up big time.

You are kidding right? You think because they are tested and not dead, that’s a big win.

Are you mentally deficient? Really? It’s like once a doctor identifies Measles, they are healed?

This thing takes up to three weeks to run it’s course. We identified the first case in the wild when—Wednesday?

So, Wednesday in the US = December 15th in China.

What makes you think this is anything but the start? Because the CDC said so? They’ve screwed this from the start. They send out lots that don’t work. 75% of the first test kits were defective. Then for another two weeks they have such a strict testing policy, people were walking around in elementary schools with this virus.

It takes 5-14 days to become symptomatic.

Good luck with that.

You are as delusional as the libs are retarded.

I’m not even blaming anyone. I merely think you will see large portions of this country locked down for weeks. I think the economic system is so bad, that it will cause a significant economic and cultural impact that will be felt for years.

But, I am hysterical. Your I’ll spout things as if they are gospel—without addressing a single statistic or counter argument.

I understand most people are too stupiid Basic numbers, science, and powers of observation.

It’s sad, but the herd needs thinning. Good luck getting a hospital bed.
