The U.S. Air Force is changing its song to be gender-neutral as the service grows more diverse and adds more women across its ranks.
Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein made the announcement Thursday during the Air Warfare Symposium in Florida, alongside Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright.
Goldfein said the change applies to the third verse of the U.S. Air Force Song, sometimes known as "Wild Blue Yonder," which is traditionally sung at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and often performed independently of the other verses.

LOL, being ex-Navy around here often demands a thicker hide...and sometimes for good reason, too! Sometimes I admit it is a little embarrassing.
It has been my opinion that “political hires” are more difficult to get in the enlisted ranks than they are to advance through the upper ranks, though it is true they do exist as we know. I didn’t know anything about the CMSAF, and when, out of curiosity I looked at his Wikipedia entry, his nickname hit my funny bone...:)

Everything was going fine until they sang the Air Force song. I had to choke back laughter when a bunch of civil engineer types sang about "zooming to meet their thunder..." and "at 'em boys, give it the gun..." Don't get me wrong, I salute anyone who honorably served, but the Air Corps song was over-the-top.
For the record, my dad was in the Army Air Corps and the Air Force as a pilot from 1943-1973. I was not a great warrior or in combat, but I was an Armor officer during the Cold War and served a total of 21 years active and reserve.
Trump should bust his ass to private.

That’s the third verse. I am surprised they didn’t change the first, “atta boy, give her the gun.” Or the recruitment song by Mitch Miller, “they took the blue from the skies and a pretty girl’s eyes.” “And gave it to the MEN who proudly wear the US Air Force blue.” Or, “they are MEN with a dream, on America’s team, they’re a rugged and ready crew.”
I really hate PC.
By the way, my son is about two thirds of the way through USAF pilot training. 👍 He said his flight commander told him he was the number one stick in his class, but not to get complacent. I told him to be prepared to work much harder in pilot training, than he did in college. He said I was right. He works much harder in pilot training, than he ever did in college. 👍

In my six years in the USAF I never came close to seeing out CMSAF, but I separated out and hired on with ITT. A couple of months later they sent me to Manhattan to their headquarters right down town near Battery Park and the Customs Building, to learn the processor system for the Digital Tandem Telephone Switch. In the Atlanta Airport I was shocked to see CMSAF McCoy walk right by me on the concourse.
That’s a pretty cool story.
I honestly had no idea who the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy was when I was in...when I looked, it was an odd coincidence-he was sworn in on nearly the same day I got on the plane to go to boot camp, and left his post and retired on nearly the day my enlistment officially retired! What are the odds?
I will say this-he was apparently responsible for bringing back the traditional US Navy crackerjack uniform. He deserves my undying respect for that, because I had to wear the crappy ice cream salesman uniform when I was in!
I don’t really know for sure. I think each Air Force Base, has its own methods of determining stuff like that. Call signs have never come up in our discussions, but I will ask him. As far as I can figure out, they use the instructor pilot’s call sign, but I am not sure. He may get his own specific call sign, after training, but again, each base probably has their own ways of determining that. 😀 🛩
The moral rot in the military moves forward at break neck speed and NO ONE is doing anything to end it.

If he is a 70 USAFA grad, he is probably the same age as me, but I retired in 88. I did 20, and that was it for me.
