Harry Reid calls for end to all caucuses
The Hill ^ | 02 23 2020 | John Bowden

Posted on 02/23/2020 7:36:57 PM PST by yesthatjallen

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) called on the Democratic Party to abandon the caucus system on Sunday in a statement released following the caucuses held in his home state.

Reid said in a statement that the Nevada Democratic Party "did a good job" with Saturday's caucuses following the chaos in Iowa after its first-in-the-nation contest, while calling on the caucus system to be dropped entirely.

“I am so proud of the Nevada Democratic Party, its talented staff, and the thousands of grassroots volunteers who have done so much hard work over the years to build this operation. We have the best state party in the country, and that was shown again this past week after another successful caucus that featured a historic four days of early voting with more than 10,000 new voter registrations," Reid said of the Nevada Democratic Party.

“With so much Democratic enthusiasm in Nevada, demonstrated again by the tremendous caucus turnout this year, I believe we should make the process of selecting our nominee even more accessible," Reid continued, adding: "That’s why I believe it’s time for the Democratic Party to move to primaries everywhere."

“its too hard to manipulate the results with a caucus.”

actually, caucuses are WAY, WAY easier to manipulate than general elections ... a few hundred insiders can tweak the hell out of the whole think in multiple different ways ...

that’s why both Dems and Pubs voted overwhelmingly in 2018 to eliminate caucuses in Colorado in favor of a primary election for nominating presidential nominees ....

"When Democrats can’t figure out how to do something, they just dispose of it."

They're always changing the rules to suit their needs.

” caucusing has worked fine for over 100 years, never had a problem but now”

caucusing has never worked right in Colorado ... they were always nothing more than vehicles for a very few party insiders to grossly manipulate ...

that’s why both Dems and Pubs voted overwhelmingly in 2018 to eliminate caucuses in Colorado in favor of a primary election for nominating presidential nominees, so that every registered voter in the state could select the presidential nominees and not just a few hundred party insiders ...

Wow, it did so well that they are stuck at 60% counted, no final results, and discrepancies to resolve. Maybe not so bad as Iowa but 2 of 3 and both caucuses incomplete is a disgrace. At least this time Bernie won with large enough lead that they cannot steal his win. But the others still need to pay to play to get second place.

Just think, not to long ago Nevada was not “blue”. Now a sparsely populated state like Nevada can leverage the country politically in the Presidential election along with two libtard senators congressionally.

When Democrats can’t figure out how to do something, they just dispose of it. Noted.

Yes, and when they can't figure out how to deal with certain groups of people who don't vote for their candidates...

I watched Meet the Press this morning. Chuck Todd was going on about Hispanic casino workers and the union.

It occurred to me Hispanics are the new slave labor who are no longer happy being slave labor.

They want a 'workers' revolution' and Bernie is their Castro.

We're importing cheap labor and revolutionaries.

‘Because it’s Vegas.’ Casino workers make their presidential picks over lunch break

If you don’t like the outcome of any election, come up with excuses that let you keep counting the votes....just keep counting. The RATS don’t do things right deliberately...

Rat politics: caucuses reveal your incompetence? Ban them. Electoral College didn’t go your way? End that. Voters not obeying your dictates? Sabotage the system, get dead people to vote and hack the process. They used to do this crap behind closed doors. Now they do it in broad daylight.

That won’t solve the problem of how delegates are awarded. The current system, where everyone over 15 percent gets some delegates all but assures that no one will have enough to secure the nomination. Of course, that’s exactly what the head Rats want. That way they can anoint whomever they want when it goes to a brokered convention. And Bernie gets screwed again. I’m stocking up on popcorn before the Rats assemble in Milwaukee. Businesses near the convention should consider boarding up their shops, because the Bernie Bros are going to explode once Bernie is shut out.

What does having a caucus to help determine a party’s nominee have to do with the Electoral College?
