No specifics in your link, other than "massive improvements".
Elon Musk is a well known self-promoter.
Nothing wrong with that, but it promotes skepticism.

The “specifics” is there will soon be a public deep-dive into the incoming technology. Rest of the article is gleaning what we know so far.
If Tesla “Battery Day” is anything like “Autonomy Day”, it will indeed be a public deep-dive.

$5,500 for a new battery. I know I’ve spent WAY more than that on engine repairs for each of my ICE cars. All my EV needed in 2 years was new tires and a cabin air filter.

Most ICE don't need any engine repairs in the first 5 years.

Darn, I’m working on a franchise to sell pedal cars there. Heck, if they worked for kids they should do just fine for adults.

So only the rich will be able to drive.

...What will be done with all the no longer needed fuel stations and who gets to pay for the disposal of the underground fuel tanks?... Actually, most fuel tanks in the UK are above ground. Much better than the US practice of requiring underground tanks.
An above ground tank can be inspected, maintained and repaired. Can't do any of those things with an underground tank.

Above ground tank = ugly eye sore fuel air bomb.

...Above ground tank = ugly eye sore fuel air bomb... Yeah, you're right. I read about them blowing up over there all the time.
Millions of Europeans have been incinerated by above ground tanks, and the idiots keep right on building them.

15 years out? I’m pretty sure AOC isn’t impressed since it’ll all be over before then. I’m also sure Greta isn’t smiling either.

The UK was already lost over a decade ago so the sort of vehicle the use doesn’t matter.

Maybe you don't have a Ford. Millions of Ford vehicles since 2007 have failing internal water pumps that destroy engines. Cost more than $7000 to replace engines. Unless you swap in a used engine at reduced cost.
Brother-in-law owns a Ford truck. He's spent thousands on replacing engine, transmission among other costly repairs. He's looking at getting an electric vehicle because he's tired of engine problems.
