Report from my Caucus. IT WAS PACKED...way more people than 2016! I would guess 2000 or so. We had Lara Trump, Weld & Walsh, plus our local IA Senate & House members.

Weld was politely received; Walsh was booed & people were yelling at him after he remarked that President Trump’s tweets are making Republicans the party of old, white men. Half of us in the audience were women...waving our “Women for Trump” Signs. It was FUN for a change:)

He got killed with the impeachment sham. He wasn’t viable for the start.

Democrats: U.S. Sen. Edmund Muskie of Maine fared the best of any candidate in the 1972 Iowa Democratic caucuses, but most voters were uncommitted. George McGovern went on to become the Democratic presidential nominee. The results are:

Uncommitted: 35.8 percent
Edmund Muskie: 35.5 percent
George McGovern: 22.6 percent
Other: 7 percent
Hubert Humphrey: 1.6 percent
Eugene McCarthy: 1.4 percent
Shirley Chisolm: 1.3 percent
Henry Jackson: 1.1 percent

Republicans: President Richard M. Nixon was unopposed for his party’s nomination.

He’s a grandstanding jerk.

Ironically, MSNBC has pretty interesting coverage. They are interviewing caucus goers as they are trying to decide who to give their support to after their preferred candidate was declared not viable.

I accidentally clicked on them while moving my up arrow to try to see what was going on on CSPAN.

What’s funny is I mostly never really watch any of the cable news networks, but do listen to the simulcasts on SirusXM in my car

Same. I tuned out Fox news years ago. These days I just turn it on for big events. Probably should turn over to CNN for this, though.

Man the DNC is furiously cooking the books. They haven’t even dribbled out one precinct? LOL!

Congratulations to master strategist @SpeakerPelosi who decided to run a two week long anti-Burisma informercial in the run up to @DNC Iowa caucus. Biden is now done...— Sam Nunberg (@NunbergSam) February 4, 2020

Biden might have won Iowa if Pelosi hadn’t tried to impeach Trump over Burisma

It was shady as hell and even Democrats know it when they hear about it

Trump got them to take out rheir own best candidate— Jack Posobiec🇺🇸 (@JackPosobiec) February 4, 2020

Per several tweets CNN is reporting the DNC is doing “quality control” on the results. That sounds kind of fishy to me.

Apparently, the Democrats aren’t any better at tallying votes than they are at finding a viable opponent for Trump. In 2016, the Dems were halfway finished about the numbers. Tonight, they still have no official numbers coming from the DNC.

I am watching it on CNN, and their bosses at the DNC are even keeping them in the dark. The results must be bad if you have to “quality control” them into the midnight hour.

I’m not sure if that’s true, there are over 6,000 votes counted from less than 2% of precincts. This extrapolates to over 300,000 votes in the Democrat caucuses. Meanwhile Trump is on track to get about 35,000 votes.
Crud! I was hoping Trump would get more than the Dems. 300,000 Dems to 30,000 Trump is no good. Is it possible you are missing a 0 in the Trump total?

I went to my D caucus tonite here in rural north central Iowa. Generally a pretty R area. I had to flip my registration to D to participate.

Had 82 people show up. Having been to R caucuses, the Bernie folks looked very similar to a Ron Paul group, was the youngest group there, and the most male.

I joined the Yang group, and there were only 3 of us there. On first count, only Bernie and Warren were viable. Which in this precinct was to have 13 people to be viable. Everyone else was at 10 or less, Amy, Pete, Joe, Bloom, Steyer, Yang and a couple others had 1 or 2. Nobody there for Tulsi.

When it came time to disperse, for the non-viable, only a Biden and Warren person came to ask for my vote. Of us 3 yang people, one went to Amy, one to Warren, and I decided to go to Biden. I was the one that made him viable in our precinct. If I hadn't of gone to Biden, they would have only had 12 and would have had to disperse. Of the 13 Biden people, only 2 were younger than 50. (by my guess).

It appears that the non-viable Steyer people went to Pete and Amy to get them viable. One person walked out from a non-viable, apparently not wanting to make a 2nd choice.

I don't live by a college campus, or anything like that. There weren't any wild eyed crazy leftists here, and the buzz and conversations were pretty mild that I heard. Mostly just, "Don't like Trump" which is to be expected. I didn't hear any of the crazy "racist" "Nazi" stuff even when they were all amongst friends.

I like political stuff, and as an Iowan, I take this job seriously to get the country going in the best direction we can, even if it is a party that I don't agree with. I'll be changing my registration back to R to vote in our primary in June.

Just started watching this. What a shock the Democrat party seems to be holding back the results.

The caucus process sounds something like the hokey pokey.
