So much for the Chinese shutting down the airport.

So much for airports around the world banning planes and passengers from Wuhan.

How soon does the test pick up on the virus?

63 patients are awaiting results in 22 US states.

Queen Elizabeth missed an event yesterday due to a “slight cold”. Who has she met and shook hands with in the past few days?

With a reported 10-14 day incubation period, those exposed won’t feel sick for over a week.

Two to fourteen days, mostly on the short side. It's a coronavirus, not a magic virus.

“Yet another reason to close the borders.”

If it spreads south of us into poor countries...

I just ordered more hand sanitizer. My husband bought some “surgical” masks at the drug store. I had the flu last year. It was bad.

I have heard that the incubation period may be weeks.

NYT says "The incubation period — the time from exposure to the onset of symptoms — is believed to be about two weeks." but that's probably fake news.

Oh, ok, you know your viruses. So mostly a few days, or distributed over that period?

distributed over that period but most toward the short end. Think about when the common cold goes through your family

When I don't know, I just look things up

Looks like a signoid curve fig 2: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4327893/ SARS type coronavirus shows 2 to 10 days with a more gradual slope than most. Probably a result of a lot of differences in the human immune response to a rare virus.

Looks like distributed on the short end to me (see my previous link, fig 2) With the much more common coronavirus (that everybody gets eventually) it's all on the short end of the curve. The SARS-type coronavirus is stretched out a bit to the right.

In 14 days, 2000 traveled from the epicenter of the plague to Britain!
Yes, in 14 days 2000 people enter Britain from one city in China alone. I wonder how many ever had any intention of going back? And what chance the authorities know where most of them are now?
