A Marine who says he was in the area during the terror attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, says then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton delayed help for the ambassador and others who were killed.
The testimony comes from Jon Myers, who tweeted, "I was the officer in charge of the Marine response after the Benghazi attack of 2012, in which the American consulate was destroyed and the ambassador murdered. Our mission was to reinforce the embassy.
"I was in charge of a program that had a company of Marines aboard a U.S. Navy amphibious ship (USS McHenry) conducting amphibious landing exercises around Africa. After the attack happened, we were re-tasked to respond and protect the embassy. We came up with a plan that included inserting 250 Marines and all their weaponry using Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, refueling in flight with Air Force tankers, inserting directly into the embassy," he wrote

Which, by the way, is what likely would have happened had it not been for ex Libyan military security officers who took it upon themselves to rescue our people. If not for them, our guys probably would have been over run by the Jihadi and never heard from again
The entire thing was a setup to exchange the blind sheik for Ambassador Stevens.
That's why State didn't want any shooting or heroics.
When our guy jumped in and started shooting it blew the whole game and the terrorists thought they'd been betrayed and fought back hard and in waives.
If you recall traitor Bambi had tried before to give up the blind sheik to our enemies but got too much push-back.
Click on the actual article, and read carefully what the Marine OIC says in the quoted language. He did not say that his ship-born unit was told not to reinforce the Consulate in Benghazi. He said that they were told not to go to reinforce the Embassy, which was in Tripoli. From the context of the Marine officers comments, the Ambassador was already dead at that point where his unit was told not to go to Tripoli.
There were other assets that could have been dispatched sooner, such as the FAST company in ROTA, or planes based in Italy. But this particular story about the shipboard company misses the mark.

The article is wrong — or at least misleading. The ambassador and other Americans were killed at the Consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi. This story is talking about a company of shipboard Marines who were told not to go to the Embassy in Tripoli.
Eh — this article first appeared in Charlie Daniels blog, though this is apparently WND. Point stands, though. It is talking about the proposed reinforcement of the Embassy in Tripoli, not the Consulate in Benghazi.
This makes me angry all over again even though I already knows they could have helped those at the embassy. It’s such a betrayal to America.

You are exactly right which means that Hillary had zero authority to order a stand down. But I don't doubt for a minute that she did and 0bungles let it slide. I also don't doubt that our congresscritters know this information.
On another point; I tried to find the Jon Meyers that Charlie Daniels sites in his article but every account on twitter associated with that name was obviously not this one. I wish that Daniels and other who site tweets as source material would provide links.
Correction about my last post: Jon Meyers didn’t post on twitter he posted on his Facebook page. WND created that error by claiming that he tweeted his post. On Charlie Daniels’ website it says he posted on Facebook.
FWIW, Daniels didn’t give a link to Jon Meyers’ Facebook page either.
Your point stands and is well made. This is not even new information. The denial of additional Marine support for the Embassy in Tripoli was reported within the first week or two after the attack in Benghazi.
Even a hundred Marines would have been enough.
The FAST platoon in Rota is what bugs me. Even if they could not have gotten there in time, you dispatch them ASAP anyway because you don't know how long the attack will last. Hillary/Obama simply didn't care enough.
This was commonly known. Stand down was declared and the f-ing BS lie of “it was a video” was disseminated. Benghazi in itself was grounds for impeachment but nobody outside of people like us gave one sh*t. The magic negro and the queen b*tch Klinton were to be protected.
I made the same mistake and jumped too fast in post #13 and I followed the Benghazi story from day one very closely. I should have caught the distinction between embassy and consulate.
There is a lot to be angry about regarding Benghazi. A Fast Team from Rota Spain was only one of at least three embassy rescue teams that could have gotten there in far less than 13 hours.
But you at least reconsidered. Too many simply don’t.
