Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., one of the seven Democratic impeachment managers prosecuting President Trump before the Senate, accused Trump of attempting to commit bribery in his dealings with Ukraine, but when asked why this was not one of the articles of impeachment, he did not appear to have an explanation.
Bribery is one of the specific offenses mentioned in the Constitutions discussion of impeachment. The House impeached Trump for alleged abuse of power -- itself is not a statutory crime and obstruction of Congress, but Crow insisted Sunday that the president was still guilty of attempted bribery.
Yeah, specifically he did attempt to bribe and coerce a foreign government official, in this case, the president of Ukraine, Crow told CNN's "State of the Union."
~snip~
Then why isnt that an article? asked host Brianna Keilar.
You know we have to look at the entire context of what happened here, Crow responded. Thats what this is about. This is about the abuse of power...

The Democrats are making all this impeachment s**t on the run hoping anything sticks. There is nothing of substance here and everybody knows it, but the country, and especially the president, has been subjected to this BS for far too long!
Would not want to be in their shoes.
Why do the talking points keep changing?
We’re a long way from the days of quid pro quo relating to Ukraine.
So now a talking point is that this indeed is a type of bribery????? But not a strong enough case could be made to include in the article of impeachment?
He turned me into a newt!
ORANGE MAN BAD!!!!!!!!!!! Isn’t that all you need to know?
And also, hoping that the media will carry their water for them.
OMG, to hear the likes of Wolf Blitzer solemnly commenting on the march of representatives to the Senate, delivering the articles of impeachment, is frustrating to listen to. Yet they will convince a certain number of people that this courageous march shows the seriousness of the charges, etc etc.
Yeah, he’s gonna do real well

You can’t be bribing anyone when the action is to honor a treaty between the two countries. And Trump disqualified himself from the investigation as he was not a ruling faction of it at that time and handed it to the Attorney General with a witnessing statement only. He can only recuse himself when and if he is forced to make a call on anything within the case as president. He is not a judge and is not in on the investigation being accomplished in the Ukraine.
rwood
I wonder if the Dems would have done better with something like Monty Python’s “Blackmail” game show sketch?
But did you get better?
“Yeah, hes gonna do real well”
LOL! You’re right. Those clowns are going to embarrass themselves.
I wonder if pelosi will be grounded if she fails impeachment100? She can always go back to San Francisco and dispense toilet paper.
Should Joe Biden win the presidency, and God help us if he does, he could be brought up on impeachment charges on day one for his bribing the Ukraine government too withhold billions in aid if they don’t fire the chief prosecutor.
He is a fraud and a liar. But it makes no difference. The Senate is opening the door to new witnesses and new testimony. Lies and false charges that were not even brought up in the House investigation will certainly be forthcoming in the Senate.
I still believe this is a mistake to open up Senate hearings. This cannot be good for President Trump.
Why do the talking points keep changing?
Because the moron Republicans in the Senate would not or could not change the rules to benefit President Trump. They are going to allow new evidence, new witnesses and new testimony to be brought forth in the Senate trial.
Total BS artist.
Trump was impeached for jaywalking. He will be tried for murder in the first.
I cannot believe this jackwad is my congressman. He happens to be one of the 75 CIA-sponsored candidates from 2018.
I hate to think Calirado is a lost cause, but the state repub party stinks on ice.
