“The reason for homelessness is, with some exceptions, not because of a lack of homes.
It is due to addiction and insanity.”

100% correct.
My wife has worked in the mental healthcare field for some 30 plus years. She comes home often telling me how these people simply DO NOT give a rip about anything other than the next fix. They dont get it? They go off the rails. She has actually had to go to the Salvation Army to get shoes for some of them. Walking around on the streets of the desert southwest in the summer without shoes. Can you imagine?

BTW, most mental healthcare institutions? They are a scam for sucking up public money and social security. They could give a rats ass about the welfare of these mentally challenged and druggies. That is why my wife had to go to the Salvation Army for shoes.

Out of 100 of these people, about 10 actually want help.

Yep. Drug addiction turns people into zombies.

An addicted husband will abandon his family, a mother will sell her children, a son will steal from his parents.

That said, addicts can be rescued, but it ain't easy.

I have seen the Gospel work to give some people a tiny spark of hope that they need to fight back...and, even then, it is hit or miss.

I can also say that without some tiny spark of hope, the addict cannot come up with a reason to want to be rescued. Drugs can kill all hope...even the flickering memory of hope.
