Sen. Rand Paul on Fox News: 'Diplomacy is dead now in the Middle East'
Fox News ^ | 1/3/20 | By Victor Garcia

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., called into "Your World with Neil Cavuto" Friday to discuss the deadly airstrike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in Iraq, saying he fears an "escalation" between the U.S. and Iran.

"I think without a declaration of war, without Congress and the American people behind it, what you get is a messy mission. You get a mission of escalating intermittent violence," Paul told Cavuto. "The president said he didn't want perpetual war in the Middle East. But he's adding more and more troops. If you don't want perpetual war, you don't keep sending more targets over there."

Paul believes it is more likely that "Iran, their militias and their proxies will attack the U.S." following the death of Soleimani.

President Trump accused the Iranian general of planning “imminent and sinister attacks” Friday in his first televised remarks since the airstrike that killed the general at Baghdad's international airport.

"We took action last night to stop a war,” Trump said during brief remarks at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. “We did not take action to start a war.”

Paul argued that that the airstrike signals the "death of diplomacy" with Iran and that they will feel the need to retaliate.

"It's hard to imagine that the Iranians are going to shrink now and say, 'Oh, you killed our leading general, who's been a leader in our country for 20 years, and we're going to do nothing,'" Paul said. "I also think with the death of Soleimani, you have the death of diplomacy. I don't think there's any chance that Iran will speak to us again on diplomacy."

Cavuto asked Paul what his "biggest fear" was about the situation.

"I think, that there will be an escalation, that there will be a war with Iran," Paul responded.

In the M.E., diplomacy has been chief among the "walking dead" since Thomas Jefferson acted for identical reasons to Trumps...

Nothing is new... Nothing is changed... Except that the U.S. is finally getting up out of the fetal position, kicking ass, and taking names...

If he is a Constitutionalist, then he knows that there are circumstances in which the President may act in an emergency.
Congress being the leaking vessel that it is should not have been told first.

Someone had already leaked to the NYT which gave Soleimani a heads UP
and he was fleeing the airport when the drone got him.

How many more Americans do you want sacrifice to sand people? There is no calm unless Iran conquers Iraq or a Biden plan of sectarian separation. As of now, our boys are merely police separating the islamic bloods and crips. That is not a strategy. There are plenty of places like chicago and la for Americans to die. How many more years in Iraq and Afghanistan do you want to stay? How long do we keep subsidizing the security of sand people?

The first diplomacy in the middle east in my lifetime was DJT getting several of those countries to vow to fight terrorism. I’m sure they are all very happy with today’s events. For the first time, real diplomacy has a chance!

It is amazing how many pussies we’ve put into Congress. We need to start a national movement to put in rugged individualistic and patriotic citizens instead of these homo lawyers.

From “The Wind and the Lion.” Excellent movie, Brian Keith was particularly good as President Theodore Roosevelt. Many of us boomers grew up with Mr. Keith. He starred in several Disney TV episodes of “Johnny Shiloh.”

Annnnnd right on cue here comes Stupid Rand. This is why he never will have a shot at anything higher than a senator. He can’t be counted on to literally pull the trigger.

I find it astonishing that American politicians and allies all find it WORSE to kill this Iranian pig than to let him go on killing Americans and their allies.

To all,

the point of trying hard to work ‘diplomacy in middle east’ is if you are working for the other side.

Trump now up and ended that idiocy with “America First”.

Much to the chagrins of our Leftist Deep State, those (majority) faceless bureaucrats whose career and $$$$ depending on it.

*And Rand Paul, like his dad, will never be presidential material.
