I mean what were they thinking? Democrats thought their North Korean-style kangaroo court would torpedo the Trump presidency? They thought they could change sway minds with this bit of Nonsense Theater. They thought they could get the vast majority of Americans to back them? Whatever these clowns are snorting, I want some. The feelings about Trump and this administration are entrenched. Theyre not moving. Second, the impeachment push was forever tainted as a partisan witch-hunt as soon as Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, decided to lay the foundations for this circus in secret. Testimonies were given behind closed doors, select excerpts were released that only supported the Democrats warped narrative, and once this quasi-coup was taken out of the basementthe whole thing fell apart.
The public hearings, like the ones for Russian collusion, revealed that this was another nothing burger. The president may have acted inappropriately in terms of decorum over a phone call with the Ukrainians. Thats not an impeachable offense. The allegation is that Trump threatened to withhold aid unless a corruption probe was opened into Hunter Bidens position at Burisma, which hes held since daddy Biden was VP. He was there to allegedly sell access to top U.S. officials. The quid pro quo allegation is the crux of the Democrats argument for impeachment and its shoddier than the Russian collusion myth.
Following this mayhem gives you whiplash, the whistleblower reports that unearthed this allegation was considered a smoking gun. Now, that we know all of this is grounded in hearsay, Democrats say they dont need solid evidence. But lets go back to this bet that the House Intelligence hearings could undo Trump (via NBC News) [emphasis mine]:
Democrats are betting the reality-TV presidency of Donald Trump will begin to short-circuit Wednesday when they start putting names and faces to the bureaucrats who collectively contend he placed his own gain above American national security interests.
Democrats are confident enough that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., upped the ante on the eve of his panel's first publicly televised hearings by teasing the possibility that Trump will face impeachment on charges of bribery as well as high crimes and misdemeanors in an interview with NPR.
"I don't think any decision has been made on the ultimate question about whether articles of impeachment should be brought," Schiff told the public radio network. "But on the basis of what the witnesses have had to say so far, there are any number of potentially impeachable offenses, including bribery, including high crimes and misdemeanors."
In other words, Democrats think they're about to nail Trump to the wall.
Yeah, that plan blew up in their faces. The witnesses were all career bureaucrats who didnt like Trump or disagreed with him on policy. It was a joke. You cannot convict someone based on hearsay. You cannot impeach based on hearsay. You cannot impeach because you dont like someone. Thats what was exposed to these proceedings and the polling in the states the Democrats need to win in order to boot Trump in 2020 isnt kind either. Battleground state voters are sour on this whole clown act and Democrats once again might have given the Trump 2020 campaign a big in-kind contribution (via Axios):
Polls in key 2020 states show that support for impeaching President Trump is lower than in national impeachment polls, according to an analysis by the Washington Post.
Why it matters: The polls signal that pursuing impeachment could potentially hurt Democrats in states they need to carry to defeat Trump in his bid for a second term.
By the numbers: In a dozen October and November polls on impeachment in battleground states like Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Wisconsin, an average of 44% of those surveyed supported impeachment, with 51% opposed, according to the Post.
If Democrats dont retake Pennsylvania, that could be the ballgame. Its rough in Wisconsin, with some pollsters at the Cook Political Report thinking that the Badger State might be the most difficult for Democrats to retake of the Wisconsin-Pennsylvania-Michigan trio. And its not just this impeachment nonsense; its their agenda. The Democrats forced Medicare for All would destroy 150+ million private health plans, including those belonging to union households. Theyre anti-fracking too, which will not play well for the western part of Pennsylvania. The 2020 crop is too left, too weak, and too stupid. That fact, coupled with this absurd impeachment crusade, only gives voters a clearer vision for whom to vote for in 2020. More jobs, bigger paychecks, economic growth and confidence, a strong military, fewer taxes, and fewer regulations versus total government control, job-killing regulations, and the economic death of America. The choice is quite clear for a lot of people who vote with their checkbooks.
October and November Polls. You can bet it has gotten even worse for the rats since then. That plus the fact that we know the polls are always over-weighted with rats. The GOP needs to keep running those ads.
The impeachment is a deep state operation. That unelected branch of government money launderers spent 30 years to get where they are, a shadow government. That deep state doesn’t care a wit about democrats or republicans. That’s just bread and circuses. They need Trump switched off. He is their Achilles heel. Legislative nebish types are pawns. That is Schiff & Co.
Ready - Aim - Vote
DEPOPULATE ‘rats, liars, looters, etc., from the body politic.
live - free - republic
This seditious charade is an anti-democratic attempt to disenfranchise past and future Trump voters and needs to be called out as such.
This impeachment fiasco is so bad for Dems that D+20 seats will be in play for 2020.
The president may have acted inappropriately in terms of decorum over a phone call with the Ukrainians.
...
No he didn’t and there’s no reason to mention the possibility, other than to give the crooked Democrats some crdibility.
It’s only hurting them because they aren’t doing enough of it, hard enough, and fast enough.
They need to up their game...
Matt Vespa is too predictable. Is it me?
President Trump cannot be bribed or blackmailed. Yet, the key players in the impeachment beclownment are vulnerable to blackmail. Trump can threaten anyone of the clowns with criminal charges, endless investigations. They are desperate.
The kitchen sink is not working.
The reason WI is tough for Dems is that Wisconsin has a front row seat to Mogadishu on the Mississippi next door in Minnesota. They also don’t have massive urban areas for vote fraud like PA and MI do.
Hopefully, we take the House back then throw out all those criminal democraps.
The Townhall chattering class conservatives are totally unreliable. They’re just chasing a paycheck.
Your most noble Nullness, what does that mean, “up their game?” Please explain.
“Matt Vespa is too predictable.”
I’m not sure I get your meaning.
I think that if they would have given this even the veneer of fairness, they may have been able to hold onto support. But this has been so one-sided, so heavy handed, that even casual observers are seeing this as out-of-bounds, even by Democrat standards.
Could not agree more.
IMHO, Nazi Pelosi faces a no-win situation. She could not face the Maoists in her party in 2020, without having impeached Trump. They have constantly said they would stay home on election day if Trump is not impeached. Now, we wonder why she’s rushing this impeachment, but she knows it’s polling badly for her party, and she’s just doing it, to satiate her base.
It’s no coincidence that this has been timed to happen right at the time that the IG’s report is due out. Ironically, this impeachment will probably move the party further to the left, and also into the minority party in Congress. It’s time for the moderates to walk the plank, they either get with the impeachment, in which case the voters will cast them out of office, or they don’t impeach, and their base stays home on election day.
The upside is that they will not have any say in the systmic reforms that are necessary, particularly, with respect to immigration. Trump’s wall will be funded and built and asylum will be reformed. It is also likely that new laws will be passed to hinder sanctuary cities/states ability to resist ICE.
The downside is that the Dems will become ever more radicalized. Their coming powerlessness will make their “Impeach Trump” cries louder and more shrill. The frustration of the ANTIFA wing of the Democratic party will likely lead to intensificaton of violence on ANTIFA’s part.
What needs to happen, is that the press should be heavily investigated for their complicity in this seditious conspiracy, and the source of the corruption of the press needs to be weeded out. The mainstream press uses the public airwaves to spew their propaganda, and it’s likely they are taking bribes from the Chinese and/or the Russians.
Also, the Republicans need to immediately address the fact that our universities have become socialist indoctrination centers. These same universities are funded, in large part, by the taxpayers through college loans and grants. Many of these same universities get tax advantages, by not paying property taxes, and burning any profits on hiring new staff. None of this should be happening on our dime.
The Democrats gobble up polling data.
They know this impeachment is hurting the Democrat Party.
Why would they keep pushing it?
Because there is something worse that they are using this impeachment baloney to try and cover up.
The Democrat leaders have betrayed the people of The United States.
They are desperately using this impeachment baloney to try and keep themselves from being punished.
“”””The reason WI is tough for Dems is that Wisconsin has a front row seat to Mogadishu on the Mississippi next door in Minnesota. “””””
I recently took a concealed carry class in a suburb of Minneapolis. We were all talking about why we wanted to carry.
Almost everyone said it was because of all the crime caused by the somalians in Minneapolistan.
