Why is Adam Schiff sniffing around the phone records of reporters and congressmen?
Washington Examiner ^ | 12/05/2019

Posted on 12/05/2019 8:00:18 PM PST by Kevin in California

Adam Schiff owes the public some answers.

The House Intelligence Committee chairman should explain why and under what authority he obtained and then publicized phone records that included calls involving the president's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, ranking Intelligence Committee Republican Devin Nunes, journalist John Solomon, and others. It is far from clear when, or even whether, House subpoena powers extend so far without a court-ordered search warrant.

The California Democrat has used the records to hint at attempts by the Trump team and by Nunes, Schiff’s bitter rival, to coordinate a pressure campaign against Ukraine for Trump’s personal benefit. Solomon, meanwhile, was the conduit for much of the reporting, some of it from dubious sources, that Trump’s defenders have cited as the reason Trump wanted certain Ukrainian actions investigated.

The exact scope of congressional subpoena power is a legal gray area, frequently fought over in the courts without clear resolution. In Schiff’s favor, Congress arguably deserves more latitude amid impeachment proceedings. And as Giuliani and his associate Lev Parnas are both reportedly under investigation by divisions of the Justice Department, it is possible, if one stretches the imagination, that Schiff was somehow just piggybacking on those investigations to secure their phone logs.

mueller was not working in a vacuum devoid of the people we all elected. The corruption is out in the open now. Even though the government and media act like nothing out of the ordinary has changed. I don’t see how that genie ever goes back into the bottle.

Keep an eye on John Solomon, if anyone is going to break the story. it’ll likely be him.

Why have the Rs been so tepid about this? They should have jumped on this immediately and orchestrated a response of outrage. First in a news conference and publicize a letter that should have been sent to Barr to open up an investigation on this abuse of power. They should have also noted that they will be considering a lawsuit.

Impeachment is not a relevant excuse. I believe that I saw that the request was made on Sept 30 before the impeachment inquiry was voted on and passed.

I think anyone can obtain and attach a name to a phone number with simple online companies if Schiff already had the number. Only the NSA would have the conversations, of course. I am pretty sure this Schiff guy would at least have that thought in mind. Whether they turned him down or not, we don’t know. Maybe he went to one of crooked FISA judges that approved wiretaps under false pretenses against everyone who knew Trump.

Switch to “burner” phones.

I think the more important question is why in the hell AT&T just handed over explicitly private information without going to court to protect their customers?

They should be sued big time for this and more importantly their customers should consider another provider. And one needs to ask. Would AT&T have handed over records of the obama administration if they had been requested? would they have challenged it in court then?

Because he no longer has a Clapper and Brennan to do it for him!

Whom I’m disgusted to learn opened them up for him is the phone companies in question: we had a 19 year old young woman kidnapped from a Target store parking lot one summer evening by a guy who stalked her through the store. The police begged her phone company to track her through her phone that was in her purse but were turned down even with a court order.

Had the police been able to even track her phone’s pings (no one wanted to trace her speaking in her phone) as it traveled through various areas of the city for even an hour or two, she might have been able to be saved, but those phone companies said, “No dice!”

Later the next day, the police were able were able to trace the guy through the license plate on his truck and he finally confessed that he had driven all over the area, finally stopping at an area park where he raped her repeatedly over a period of hours, finally putting a plastic bag over her head, tied her hands and feet and dumped her in a nearby lake in the park, where he had been for hours.

Help to save the life of a young woman by tracing it through his driving all over, finally stopping at a local park for more hours, until he tired of her and killed her, not going to happen for her mom, dad and grandparents, nor for the local police and county sheriff, but for Adam Schiff, piece of cake!

Tell me we don’t have kings, queens, princes and princesses, we have the next best thing, the DemocRAT party backed up by the media!

We, the taxpaying “country class,” they: the “Ruling Class “Elite!

We complain about “it being unfair,” they tell us to shut up and pay our taxes so they can give more of our money to illegals and despots from other countries! Who better than them to know what to do with our money!

America, is it a great country or what!

Yes. Get AT&T to produce the court order that forced them to divulge what should be confidential information. If there is no court order, Republican AT&T customers might find that interesting.

Probably because most of the records of congressmen and the media are crap, and Schiff loves the smell, it reminds him of himself

Laura Ingraham just had on her show that the NSA was involved with providing schiff the phone records.

Can it get any uglier? The inaction of the GOP Senate here is breathtaking. A party that stands for nothing will be nothing.

I believe Nunes said on Levin that Schiff issued a standard Congressional subpoena and AT&T did not fight it. Could have my facts a bit wrong there.

That answer was already blown, and laughed at! <>Pubbies aren’t the slightest bit exercised over anything Dems are doing or have done like the Hunter Biden job - GOP kids get jobs the exact same way!

Our kids don’t get them, our kids mow lawns, paint fences, and flip burgers, if the bosses don’t hire illegals first!

Mueller blew attorney/client privilege out of the water, when he invaded Michael Cohen’s house and files.

I still have not gotten over that.

I despise Mueller for that and we should all remember what a virtual rape he did to one of our protections in the Constitution.

It wasn’t Mueller. He was asleep as the wheel. It was partisan hack Democrats who working for him who assaulted Trump’s supporters. Unfortunately, many of these dirtbag Democrats have gone back to work in the “Trump” DOJ.

That was true on 1/21/17, now it is obvious they are in on it.

"I believe Nunes said on Levin that Schiff issued a standard Congressional subpoena and AT&T did not fight it. Could have my facts a bit wrong there."

And what about Schitt PUBLICLY RELEASING IT? I guess REDACTIONS are only necessary when information is EMBARRASSING to DEMONRATS only?

Congratulate Hoover for being able to hold his Schitt for 9 months...
