Oh, SNAP, indeed. As if kids don’t get free breakfast, lunch and snacks at school. In the summer, schools have lunch trucks drive around with free hot lunches for anyone 0-21. Some schools even have free suppers thanks to the working class taxes.

Then there’s the food banks and other charities. There is always the push during holidays to hand out meal boxes with turkeys and hams along with all the fixin’s.

Trump should also put restrictions on what EBT cards can buy. Nothing but real food and no restaurants.

Kind of a catch 22. It’s not the kid’s fault his mother sells her food stamps and uses the money for fake nails, weaves, or drugs. If she cared about her child, she wouldn’t do that (or a lot of other things). There are several subcultures in America, that only God can change. Unfortunately, the people involved have to want to change. We didn’t get in this mess overnight, and it’s not going to go away overnight, either. BTW, IMHO, able bodied adults should be made to do without, if they won’t get out and get a job.

A temporary solution (until ALL welfare can be pushed back to the state level) would be to work with food banks, charities, maybe Wally World, and make food stamps only useable for base goods. Beans, rice, dry noodles, cheaper fruits/veggies, flour, meats under $4/lb, and so on. You either pick up a weekly allotment at the food bank, or you are extremely limited in what you can buy at the store. Basic staples and that's it.

You limit food stamps to just food, and I bet a third to half of food stampers would self-disenroll.
