It began quite some time ago. It has not yet escalated to the large-scale violence stage. That would take a major recession plus covert or overt assistance from foreign powers to reach full boil. The second item may never happen at all. The first item is inevitable, and likely within the next four years.
Leftists dominate every major city in this country and almost every single cultural and economic institution. What they do not control outright, they can still heavily influence. They aren't going to surrender their positions voluntarily or peacefully, no matter what election outcomes may be.
Sad to say, a very large fraction of the population wants Socialism. They want to believe all those pretty little lies about all the wonderful free stuff they would receive. And it must be somebody else's fault that they are not getting free stuff right now.

Your most likely hot civil war date is May, 2025. There is of course a somewhat arbitrary demarcation of such things, and people will quibble endlessly about which violent incident marked the beginning. There will be plenty from which to choose. Check back in 2025 for a follow-up.
