Maebe A. Girl for Congress
First Drag Queen Elected to Public Office in The United States
Maebe A. Girl is currently serving on the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council in Los Angeles, representing Region 5. Upon her election, she became the first drag queen elected to public office in the United States. Maebe is responsible for forming the Silver Lake LGBTQIA Advocates Committee, which is the first committee of its kind in the Los Angeles Neighborhood Council system. Maebe also serves as one of the Homelessness Liaisons for the Council, interfacing between the Council and the Homelessness Committee. She recently voted in favor of submitting a Community Impact Statement to LA City Hall to address homeless encampment clean-ups and to support a study of the efficacy of current clean-up efforts, with the recommendation to approach this sensitive subject with more compassion. Maebe A. Girl is the decidedly Progressive candidate for California's 28th Congressional District, and is dedicated to working on behalf of its entire, diverse population -especially its most vulnerable and underrepresented residents.
Maebe A. Girl is genderfluid/trans, and her pronouns are she/her. She hosts, produces and performs in drag shows around Los Angeles in addition to her SLNC duties.
