“I think Rudy is playing a part and he is playing it exceedingly well. Remember this is the guy who took on the mob and won, he is also the one who held NYC together on and after 9-11. Getting old does not mean you suddenly become incompetent. I want everyone to remember that after Rudy left politics he opened a cyber security company. Now think about that for a few minutes.”

And? That explains or excuses his outbursts on TV?

Look, Rudy is a good lawyer. I like him, because he is entertaining. But if he were my attorney I’d not want him going on TV. If I had to choose between Rudy and, say, Andrew McCarthy, I’d go with Andrew McCarthy any day. Hell, I’d go with Alan Dershowitz over Rudy. Both of them come off much better on TV, and in the court of public opinion (which the instant action is), that would pay dividends.

Sorry, but you have it all wrong. Colorful and theatrical hold an audience. Erudite but colorless and boring do not.

You have no idea what he is doing or why. I don’t think President Trump is a fool, so I think there is a lot going on and things are about to come to a head.

I keep hearing that Crowdstrike has been debunked. If that is so, then the DNC server has to be somewhere in the FBI vaults, right?

“Hell, I’d go with Alan Dershowitz over Rudy”

Alan Dershowitz is a scholar but not a fighter like Rudy. I’d pick Dershowitz as a judge - I think he’s a principled defender of civil liberties and the constitution.

But Trump is in a political fight - the Democrats are pretending it’s about high crimes and misdemeanors - but that’s a crock and everyone knows it. This is pure politics.

Guiliani knowing the law comes in handy but that’s really not the role he’s serving. He’s serving a role of fighting - he investigates, he gets dirt on them, he finds out what dirt they think they have on Trump, he goes out and blows smoke or he discredits them on TV. He bluffs and he calls their bluff.

Yes, being a lawyer is essential but that’s not the role he’s in. Besides being a prosecutor, he’s also experienced in gutter politics.

I heard him say on Laura Ingraham - something to the effect of “Please, let them come after me - I really hope they do - I can’t wait. I have so much on them - I have filing cabinets full”. That was a warning and I have no doubt President Trump put him up to it.

There are already signs that the Democrats may pull the plug on impeachment and ask for a censure, rather than risk the embarrassment of a 100% partisan impeachment being thrown out by a bipartisan Senate.

If they do back down, there is reason to believe it is largely because they fear what Giuliani can do to them if this goes to Senate trial. Giuliani can prove to be a very strong part of President Trump’s arsenal if push comes to shove.
