Remember, Academy cadets are civilians and their individualism has to be broken down to turn them into team players. They may call it something else, but it sure looked like boot/basic to me. Maybe one of us should do some research...ha.

I attended the Naval Academy from 1972 to 1974 and then was medically discharged just before my 2nd Class year. One year later, in 1975, (which would have been three years from the time I entered during Plebe Summer), when I enlisted in the Army, I was sent directly to Fort Hood for AIT-OJT as an 11B. I didn't have to attend Boot Camp because they said that my Plebe Summer training was equivalent.

Makes since after watching documentaries and just now some videos. Sheesh, Plebe Summer looks even more intense than Army Cadet Basic Training. Guess that's because all plebes need the same training whether Sailor or Marine service. When do plebes or mid-shipmen decide which branch?

Forgot to mention, too bad about your medical discharge. How did you get accepted to Annapolis? That’s a huge accomplishment in itself.
