Libertarians are “puritans” as to Liberty, to the point of being unable to defend a society that by the most lenient BUT PRACTICAL means cannot be purists about Liberty, or it will toss out the very sovereignty that protects the Liberties we do have.

I am kind of the same way.
I am just relaying my personal experience.

I use to subscribe to Liberty & Reason magazine. I thought wouldn’t it be great to meet these authors and others of a like mind and discuss the articles. Instead all I ever met were people who were angry at stop signs or constant dopers.

“The Libertarians ensured a pro-abortion socialist defeated a strong conservative just because he would not legalize marijuana. “

That sounds like he was out of touch with his potential electorate.

That’s on him.

Well then the conservative was an idiot! Where pots not legalized, CBD/today’s snake oil, is selling all over the place in all forms. Meaning People want it. Kentucky used to grow tobacco, imagine what good weed it could grow and it might even help the local economy too.

What do Libertarians believe about abortion and gay marriage?

That's their dirty little degenerate secret (when they're forced into dialogue with a Conservative). They are pro anything "liberty."

The "liberty" to move across international borders without constraints (= open borders).

The "liberty" to choose and pursue one's sexual orientation (= pro faggot).

The "liberty" to choose whether or not to keep one's baby (= pro abortion and by implication, to murder one's child even post birth).

The "liberty" to smoke dope and consume any illicit drugs they please (by implication, vending machine narcotics),

Etc. Etc. Etc.

It's clear that those people are reprehensible degenerates. It's also clear that FR has been flooded with this filth of late. Just peruse the dope threads.

I noticed that Rand Paul, with his "libertarian touch", didn't say a word about Bevin at the rally.

Thanks Rand.

If the re-count vindicates Bevin, they’ll have something to light up for.

I used to call myself a “ small L libertarian”, because it had the word liberty in it, and liberty and limited government are the conservative principles I value the most.

However, I have since learned that, for practical purposes, the Libertarian party is nothing but a third party spoiler that takes votes from conservative Republicans and helps Democrats win.

Like it or not, we have a two party system. It really doesn’t matter what the Libertarian’s platform is; their presence as a third party candidate works against the conservative movement.

Sometimes a Libertarian candidate is a true conservative, and I actually believe he would be the best man for the job, but unfortunately, running as a third party only assures the Democrat victory.

A “small L libertarian” who is a true conservative and who truly wishes to advance the cause of liberty by enforcing the constitutional limitations on the federal government, as intended by the founders, will run as a Republican, as did RR and DT - not as a Libertarian.

Libertarians are pro sodomy.
They’re basically fags.

“Don’t ask don’t tell,” and, “What two consenting adults do in their own bedroom..” has led us to drag queen MAGA and trans-library read-alongs for elementary school kids. A complete disaster.

Most libertarians, not all, are goofs. Let’s put it this way: Any person who does not vote FOR Pres. Trump in 2020, for any reason except lack of mental acuity, deserves to live with the starving masses in Venezuela.

Nothing wrong with being libertarian, but voting for a Libertarian in a close race is not wise.

BINGO. If the majority of people in KY want marijuana more available, it is something that the GOP must realize in today’s climate. Look at DeSantis in Florida. He signed a bill that allowed smokable marijuana for medical use because he simply said, “The people voted for it, therefore, I am going to sign this bill.” Result: DeSantis has a 72% approval rating for being reasonable.

In Texas, our state legislature refuses to put this on the ballot because they know it will pass. Guess what? We are about to go blue because of the busy body Republicans who think they know better. Call me disgusted.

They want the government out of their lives so anything goes. As long as you are not hurting anyone else you should be free to do as you choose.
Not a bad philosophy as far as it goes but is totally unworkable because it is not a true reflection of human nature. It might work but we would have to have a workable death penalty, effectively and timely used. step out of line you are toast

Of the professing Libertarians I have met since college they fall into two categories:

1. Libertines not libertarian - Wanted no constraints on their lives whatsoever. So actually anarchists but they wouldn’t call themselves that.

2. Single issue Libertarians - Pot the issue!, i.e. only concerned about pot - Want to smoke pot whenever & wherever they feel like it.

With 2 being the largest category.

You nailed it right there.

Back in 2012, we held precinct caucuses here in Minnesota. I was a bit surprised by the amount of younger people who showed up. It didn’t take much to figure out why they were there - especially the guy who looked at me and said “Yo dude, is this where we caucus for Ron Paul?”

This guy, like many others, wasn’t much clued in on Paul’s fiscal policies - but he knew for sure that Paul was for legalizing pot.

I would vote for legal marijuana but never for a libertarian. I hope the Rs wake up on this issue over the next year.

Libertarian tears will turn bitter once they come under
the control of the left which they have brought about
all by themselves.

Why, so the libertarian club too can oppose Article V reforms?
