No question that the maintenance and training standards at the airlines involved in the crashes weren’t wonderful. The problem is that they had flown other 737’s without a problem before, and expected to have no flyability problems with the MAX. And Boeing obviously marketed the plane to them as flyable without any changes in maintenance and training standards from regular 737’s. Now, if Boeing had said that the plane was only suitable for First World pilots, then they would have bought the Airbus neos. And as it turns out, that’s what many of them will end up doing.

All products involve some degree of compromise between ship date and perfection. Whether due to bad luck or incompetence, this CEO chose wrong and should probably be replaced, in order to reassure regulators and customers that this won’t happen again.

Not really. They took a plane that could be flown safely by crappy pilots for decades and, without telling anyone, changed the plane to require that only pilots at the top of their game, with top-rate training, could safely fly it.

The rules changed without notifying the operators. Crashes happening was a given at that point. Most likely, eventually, some of the non-Third World airlines would have started to experience the crashes as even some pilots in the West aren’t always at their sharpest (especially with the EEOC requirements). And don’t forget, it took other countries to finally get us to ground the plane...shows a seriously broken system on our part.

What I see right there is the kind of attitude that caused two planes to crash and hundreds of people to die. I sure hope that you don’t work for Boeing. Because if you do then they are doomed.

I thought his ‘on camera’ response a little over the top...
A phony indignity. But so are most all elected officials. We have no more
natural statesmen who are about what’s good for our country first and second...they have fallen into the ‘me first’ trap along with a lot of people.

Blaming the pilots is ignorant and stupid.

Boeing LIED to the FAA, LIED TO PILOTS, and put a plane into flight that should never have been certified... and got certified because of their LIES.

Boeing sold a model of this plane that overrode pilot based on a single sensors input. To do this, they committed FRAUD on every level... 300+ people are DEAD... even the reports on this have state, these pilots never stood a chance thanks to what Boeing did.

The only reason this didn’t happen in the US, was pure DUMB LUCK.
