I am not in love with Amazon.
But I too am puzzled by the choice, on (1) technical and (2) experience grounds. Frankly I would have put IBM or Amazon above Microsoft on both of those grounds.
Is this an “anti” Amazon decision, on political grounds???

Microsoft is definitely the second most widely used cloud service behind Amazon, and without Amazon’s amateur/semi-amateur user base.
You really rank Amazon, a bookstore by pedigree, above a 40 year old software company that has created and supported operating systems and complex applications? Interesting.
