Battleground: 7 in 10 say US ‘on the edge of civil war’
The Washington Examiner ^ | 10/23/2019 | Paul Bedard

Partisan political division and the resulting incivility has reached a low in America, with 67% believing that the nation is nearing civil war, according to a new national survey.

“The majority of Americans believe that we are two-thirds of the way to being on the edge of civil war. That to me is a very pessimistic place,” said Mo Elleithee, the executive director of Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics and Public Service.

And worse, he said in announcing the results of the Institute’s Battleground Poll civility survey, the political division is likely to make the upcoming 2020 presidential race the nastiest in modern history.

At first, if the USA were to divide along red and blue state lines you might not even notice any difference in your day to day life. The red area would create a new federal capitol, like Dallas for example.

There will be a draft, and huge armies will be raised. If you are over 40 don't worry.

I feel it is a civil war. It is not a shooting war yet. It is a war at the ballot box. Today, I submitted my Nov 5th mail in ballot for the General Election in this state.

I certainly hope that this 2019 election will show the Democrats the stupidity of their approach, if they get voted out of office, that will also work for me.

I’m over 50 and have mobility problems, but by God, I’m not useless. If it came down to it, I can still wear a uniform.

If the red states have a navy I can still stand watch if need be.

There were over 37,000,000 hunting license sold in the U.S. last year. Over 35,000,000 this year so far. Source The vast majority of those won't be on the left's side, so they better pack a lunch when it starts... or not.

If this political divide ever comes to “Civil War” I want never want to be a Democrat, Case Closed!!! Lord, God, Almighty, forgive them for they know not what they do!!!

Democrats, for real world reference, check the history of the British, The Germans, the Japanese, The Spanish, The Italians, the Vietnamese, etc.

We have certainly been in a culture war that seems to be hotter and more polarizing by the day.
A civil war?......nope. Not even close.

“Partisan political division and the resulting incivility has reached a low in America”

...which is insane, given incredible highs of peace & prosperity.

*****************

Hard men create good times.
Good times create soft men.
Soft men create bad times.
Bad times create hard men.

Prosperity peeks and causes collapse. Rinse and repeat. It has always been so and always will be. I don’t mean that as the end of the US of A, but more as it’s time we get re-born.

And I disagree with the headline. Imo, we’re in the Civil War 2.0 now. It’s just being fought out of view of the public but it is being fought and blood is being shed.

What we have in our nation currently is, fundamentally, a conflation of the ‘town vs. gown’ conflicts that have occurred (and still occur) in towns with universities over centuries.

It’s the self-appointed ‘elites’ vs the peasants, and the peasants are rebelling.

It would take very little to plunge the blue cities into complete chaos. But if a civil war is waged, everyone will lose to some degree because the economy will suck badly and inflation will go through the roof.

Push polling no doubt.

“Hey everyone, it’s dangerous out there! People are angry!”

Said the media.
Tsk.

Because of the size of the cities and how lawless they have become, if/when TSHTF, they will descend into chaos rather quickly and many more people will die in the cities than the country as food and water run out and the gangs take over ahd start wholesale murderous rampages.

Additionally, most city folks are terrified of the country and have ZERO idea of how to survive in the wilderness, how to get safe water to drink and where to find food, or how to keep warm and find or build shelter.

If it happens in the fall through spring, it will be even worse as the cold will take an awful lot out.

That all will help make it easier to take care of what’s left even though I would be wary of someone who had the wherewithal to survive. The survivors would be the ones I’d be more concerned about.

Importing potable water for a whole metropolitan area of millions, might strain a logistics effort coping with loss of established energy and transportation systems.

There is 3 days of food in the USA supply chain — according to my LDS friends...

A truckers’ strike would bring the same effect and would not involve direct conflict (until the strike was over and the truckers needed escorts to refill the supply chain).

What are you talking about? The blue’s will have an army too. They will probably be able to secure all of California’s land mass.
