I too see it as a massive power move by POTUS.

If we’ve got to host the G-8 then hold it wherever. But anyone who thinks that holding it at the Doral will suddenly make the other seven leaders like and respect Trump or be impressed with him is just kidding themselves. Trump isn’t one of the club and never will be. And I don’t think that bothers him one bit.

He’s not taking a cent of his salary. He works harder than any president we’ve had. It looks as though his enemies are simply jealous of his wealth and success achieved before he took office, while Democrats all make millions once they are in office.

it’s the “appearance” that makes this completely idiotic. Why give libs some ammunition shackle you with a BIDEN type mentality???

Dumb....and if he doesn’t understand it....the power of the office has blinded him.

My understanding is that Trump was doing this AT COST/NO PROFIT.

Is that true? If so, he’s saving the taxpayers a chunk of change so what’s the freakin problem?

If you watched the video you’ll know the last G7 was in 2004 at Camp David. There was a lot of complaints as accommodations were small. Press had to drive an hour just to get there from town and back. Doral is close to the city, restaurants etc for the press. The site itself has nine buildings and large acreage-easy to secure. The team went through a process visited hotels and found that Doral was the best choice. Plus they get it for cost. No profit will be made. As for Trump’s brand, it is already well known. They also are willing to face the press & people freaking out. (Which I thought was funny).

Only the communists Democrats got their pants in a wad, as far as the rest of us Trump followers, no problem. As far as I'm concerned it is a perfect spot. Trump is gaining votes because watching the communist Democrats and their followers, including a few RINOs, is seeing simple minded jackasses blow their minds.

There are other considerations, one of which is the President’s personal safety. Democrats are on record as wanting the President dead. Some retired admiral said President Trump should be removed from office sooner rather than later without saying how that should be done. Lots of threats. We have had Presidents assassinated before. I wonder whose idea it was to drive President Kennedy around Dallas in a convertible. I don’t think he decided that for himself.

Why holding the G-7 at Trump’s Doral property is good for the United States.

From an old Lil' Abner play,"What's good for General Bullmoose is good for the USA!"

"The rulers of the great powers of the world have always understood that constructing awe-inspiring facilities… inspires awe(and compliance) in their visitors, softening them up to concede to the wishes of their host."

* * *

I like this reasoning.  But most of all I like the weeping and knashing of teeth this causes in our enemeies.

I wonder what the nay-sayers would be bleating if Trump had offered to host the conference at no cost at all to the participants?

According to Wikipedia's list of G8 Summit locations, the second summit was held in Puerto Rico in 1976.

The site, chosen by President Gerald Ford, was the Dorado Beach Hotel and Country Club, which was owned by Nelson Rockefeller's brother Laurance's company RockResorts.

In other words, the second G7 Summit was held at the family-owned resort of the Vice-President of the United States.

Precedence or emoluments?

Perhaps the locale was selected in anticipation of pending news that other options could have been or will be bugged. This is only safe location.Upcoming news may verify this supposition
