A video released by a senior police officer to mark International Pronouns Day has come under fire from social media users.

Deputy Chief Constable Julie Cooke, from Cheshire Police, released the 29 second video on Twitter underlining why she was backing the campaign.

Having started in the USA, International Pronouns Day aims to encourage people to use the correct terminology when talking to those who are transgender or gender nonconforming.

But social media users have encouraged the senior officer to concentrate on policing the county.

Mandy: "Here’s a Mad far left wacky Idea, Why not Identify as a Police force? Let’s start with that. Do what hard working people pay you to do, prevent and solve Crimes, real crimes."

One Twitter user named Paul, said: "I’m glad all the actual crimes have been solved and offending rates are at zero. Otherwise I’d be thinking this is a total waste of time, energy and (our) money."

Scottish policial commentator Wings over Scotland said: "Since when were you the f****** pronouns police?"

She’s in Cheshire. Shouldn’t she be smiling ... and invisible?

If you’re into pronouns, that’s your business – I’m more into Proverbs…

#11. I got an “Uncle It” autograph from (”Addams Family”) actor Felix Silla (Twinkie, in “Buck Rogers”)and “The Imperial Leader” in the original “Battlestar Galactica”.

Does his “It” count as a third “way” or should be look under the hair?

By the way, when I was in New Orleans on my way to an archaeological dig in Guatemala, I took a bus tour around the city. When a hippy-looking guy came walking by the bus, the tour guide/driver said, “Well, it’s a he, she or it”. Was he prescient or what?

#1. Does she start races at the Indianapolis 500 with her tie?

If she is gay, why isn’t she smiling?

Singing “Happy, Happy, Happy” by Pharrell Williams, “All Night Long”.

I think the sign behind her explains it all “Cheshire Con”.

I suppose marchers in the International Pronoun Day Parade will now be allowed to beat up marchers in the International Women’s Day Parade.

Women who complain will be denounced as pronoun-phobic.

My local Police Blotter now refers to a single suspect as “them, they, and their.”

Nutso.

If this linguistic insanity continues, I'm going to start referring to individuals as “it.”
