I wouldn't be certain she ever possessed the gun in her entire life, legally or illegally.

This is Texas. Damn near everyone has a gun here.

I personally do not doubt that she had a gun, especially a single woman in that area (most cops’ advice for lone women in similar situations here is “get a gun, learn how to use it). I also think it is completely irrelevant both morally and in regards to state law. She was doing nothing wrong, fully within the law, and I suspect that it is probable the cop would have shot her if there was anything in her hand. Phone, camera, gun - doesn’t matter, this guy was amped up.
