A second American civil war is nothing to look forward to
americanthinker.com ^ | 10/13/2019 | William Marbury

Similarly, today, it is surprising to hear with what composure, and how glibly, members of the public, and even politicians, talk of a second American civil war. Some conservatives assume that they, having more arms and more training and practice in using them, would quickly prevail over the soy-boy Left.

Proficiency with firearms will be no match for nuclear bombs, which Democrat Eric Swalwell has already suggested deploying domestically.

The Democrats are busy even now destroying the institutions of government, the institutions for the peaceful adjustment of differing interests. They are doing this through the Mueller witch hunt, bureaucratic and judicial sedition, and the illegitimate impeachment inquiry, and they are fomenting violence through their Antifa organization and their rhetoric.

But now let’s suppose that Trump is arrested by the House Sergeant-at-Arms while he’s delivering the next State of the Union speech.

He should mail them a postcard. A speech is not mandated by the Constitution.

This would be the flip side of leftist states and cities defying Federal immigration laws. It is hard to imagine Iowa caving into banning ag chemicals, Alabama permitting the shutdown of cutting trees, or Louisiana permitting the Feds to shut down offshore drilling and fracking. That would force Washington to enforce unpopular laws with Federal police or military.

I think life can go on without the internet. Amazon and Facebook may fail, but is that really a bad thing?

You do understand that all the orders that all the stores that you buy stuff from are transmitted over the Internet, right?

And all the trucks making all the pickups and deliveries?

You think everybody is going to know what to do without being bothered with little things like invoices and delivery schedules?

Amazing to me how someone I've never met knows my mind...or thinks he knows the mind of anyone else. Mind reading, IMO, represents more an exercise in self expression than any insight into others...IE, projection.

He should not mistake composure for a lack of understanding of the issues and consequences. The opposite, in fact.

Some conservatives assume that they, having more arms and more training and practice in using them, would quickly prevail over the soy-boy Left.

No doubt about that. Mr. Marbury lacks understanding and imagination on the issue. First, this won't (IMO) resemble civil wars of America past. Quite the opposite. Think in terms of asymmetrical warfare...and a dispersed patriot force determined to avoid a fair fight.

Proficiency with firearms will be no match for nuclear bombs, which Democrat Eric Swalwell has already suggested deploying domestically.

Now THERE'S an idea. One question though, for either the writer or Sprewell...what's your target?

William Marbury is the pen name of a lawyer who works in the arts.

Just the type of person whose insight I would seek on this issue...not.

Really. And people kept on reading that drivel past that point?

Leftists can run their sumps on all kinds of make believe bullcrap. Doesn’t mean it’ll happen in any universe except their imaginary one.

Of course, we can all just keep being scared of how hard and ugly it’d be. Best way in the world to ensure the left is never actually opposed in any meaningful way.

That’s also called surrender, by the way.

That's my scenario for a breakdown with no good opportunity for a response.

You lack imagination.

Again, you lack imagination.

Consider a guerrilla war of attrition. Someone described war as killing the enemy until they lose the will to fight.

Patriots understand and have identified the enemy. There's no need or place for "organization."

You don’t become a “unit.”

It doesn’t take a lot of effort to learn to use one, and the right would initially produce an unorganized mess of over-confident green “soldiers” with no objective, supply chain, stable political support or coordination.

Perfect. Impossible to stop because there is no 'head' to cut off.

This is exactly the sort of force that would turn cities into death traps.

To quote Rhett Butler, they’d lick us in a week.

Liberals hold the cities. In a civil war between the two sides, the cities die. There is no force they can put forth that can protect their water, their fuel, their food, their electricity and so forth.

Modern cities are death traps.

There will be no civil war before the departure of God's family. After that event, worldwide, there are particular nations which will have more chaos than others. At that time what would have been seen in a civil war will be what the left behind must face, and most of them will eagerly endorse power to one who can restore order, get the power back on, and feed the fading masses.

Agreed. It will be like an EMP attack, we might have electricity in this case, but if we don’t have the internet, we lose mass communication. If commerce ceases, the dying starts quickly. Since we’d more than likely still have electricity, the results would take a little longer, but the final results would be the same. The government and the private sector have studies RE: EMP that show that the mortality rate would be close to 90% within the first year.

But add fighting to that, and it is going to be really nasty. After witnessing the Kavanaugh attempted coup, just think what the Liberal Supremacists would be like in a CW. The outcome would be the same, but they’d probably Viet Cong-us.

“One Second After” is an almost prophetic portrayal of what may be.

Agreed. I’ve been saying for months that at some point in the future, we’ll look back and realize that at this time, we were already 2-3 years (at the very least) into it without going hot.

If a civil war unleashed, unimaginable horrors would ensue. Civility and so forth would not be a consideration.

Actually, despite the fact that conservatives have more guns and more proficiency using them, they are law-abiding, family-oriented people.

One more reason to work at splitting the country peacefully...
