“Columbus enslaved, colonized, mutilated, and massacred thousands of Indigenous People in the Americas.”

So did the Aztecs.

Shhhhhhh.

Somehow I doubt anyone there ever received a proper enough education to even know stuff like that.

Best to watch and see when it clicks in their heads.

Why don’t they go ahead and rename DC to Anal Discharge (AD) while they’re at it?

Or DC could simply mean “Discharge of the Colon” instead of “District of Columbia”.

What are they going to do with that monument where he first set foot on what’s now the US? Oh, wait, he never sat foot in the US. We might as well do away with this holiday based on a lie.

The next GOP Congress should end "home rule" for DC and appoint a panel to make their laws. They have been doing a horrible job running the city since they re-elected the crack-head Mayor, Marion Barry.

Enough is enough.

“And before that, Indigenous People enslaved, colonized, mutilated, and massacred thousands of other Indigenous People in the Americas.”

You left off cannibalizing. There were some Indian tribes, particularly in the region of modern Florida, that lived entirely on the meat from human bodies of the tribes they defeated in battle.

Throughout the Americas there were “indigenous” people who engaged in the most horrific and barbaric human rights abuses imaginable. Columbus’ travels resulted in civilization coming (returning) to the Americas.

Most of these kinds of abuses were eliminated or at least driven underground by Christian society. As the West abandons Christianity, a lot of these same kinds of abuses have been gradually coming out in the open again: ritual murder, ritual torture, sex slavery, etc.

Choctaw and Tsalagi warriors helped Andrew Jackson win the Battle of New Orleans in 1814...

And how did President Jackson repay the Tsalagi for their loyalty???

he took their lands and marched them from their ancestral homes to Oklahoma and 4,000 men, women, and children died from hunger, cold, fatigue along the way...

This forced march was called The Trail of Tears and there is a rose that supposedly only grows along the pathway called the Cherokee Rose...It has white petals, seven of them, each representing one of the seven clans of Cherokee (Tsalagi) tribe...Each petal has a spot or red at the tip, representing the blood given on the Trail...

No, they continued a practice that was acceptable the world over at the time, making contemporary criticism hypocritical and selective. Slavery was never right, but neither is it right to pretend for political partisanship to condemn one participating entity while shielding another.
