He denounced any criticism of the “deep state” as “very dangerous.”.....

He doesn't elaborate. Does Stewart also hold a view as his other NYT comrade, Thomas Friedman, who thinks it would be better if the US was more like China?

I agree with the concluding paragraph. A praetorian guard having a hand in who should or should not be President ala imperial Rome is probably a greater danger than the danger Stewart intimates. Then again, I suspect Stewart is engaging in PR on behalf of the Deep State. An old saying comes to mind about not doing ther business where they sleep, which is something the Deep State has made a mistake--which I suspect is why you're seeing things like Stewart's interview trickling out, especially as it looks more likely Trump is going to win re-election.

This seems like something most tyrants put forth. They create a bogeyman and explain that benevolent tyranny is necessary to save us from the dangerous individual.

Stalin saved Russia from the dangerous Kulaks.
Mao saved China from the dangerous capitalist running dogs.
The CIA is saving us from Trump.
The use of “public servants” to describe these seditionist losers who mainly harass Citizens through their regulations and actions is a misnomer. All of these malignant slackers should be fired immediately. Many government “workers” do extremely little “work” and even less work that is productive for society. Pox on them. President Trump should immediately create an executive order that abolishes government employee unions.

I already had a deep and abiding righteous anger regarding the media and the deep state/ shadow government/ extra-Constitutional bureaucracy, swamp . . . or whatever you want to call them. Now this condescending insult of reasoning to justify the swamp’s ongoing efforts to wrest the legitimate ballot box from citizens and to continue to conscript them as de facto slaves, diverting cash through Washington and stealing us blind . . . it is going to take a lot of nooses to effect true justice in Washington. My eyes are blood red with anger of the thievery and injustice.

So, unelected bureaucrats are there to protect the country from the voters?
This attitude shift within the bureaucracy, that they should no longer administer their duties in an apolitical manner but instead need to be clandestine left-wing activists, is the “fundamental transformation of America” Obama infected us with. It’s a fatal disease if not immediately eradicated.
