Donald Trump on Monday washed his hands of the Syrian military quagmire and defended his decision to pull U.S. troops 7,000 miles homeward, saying any resurgence of the ISIS terror army would no longer be America's immediate concern.

Countries in what he said is 'not a friendly neighborhood' wil have to make do without the United States, Trump said after signing a trade agreement at the White House.

'Iran is an example. Hates ISIS, and ISIS hates Iran. Iraq, you know all about that. Turkey. Syria,' he rattled off.

'Let them take care of it. Let them take care of it. We want to bring our troops back home.

Trump said the explosive disassembly of the ISIS caliphate had left tens of thousands of people in custod,y including both soldiers and civilians, 'and we can't release them.'

I told president Erdogan, 'It's going to be your responsibility,' he said of Turkey's leader.

Didn’t democrats hate war when Bush was in. And then ignored war during O’Bunghole, and are now total war hawks because of Trump? Where is Cindy Sheehan these days?

Martosko always gives President Trump a fair shake (well, except for media attacks).

It is time for the Kurds and the Turks to sit down and negotiate a peace. The Kurds will not get their own independent land.(Thanks to the European colonizers after WWII)

Almost all of Trumps predecessors fought on the wrong side, insisting that Turkey was our ally. At least give Trump credit for staying out of it.

War and peace.

Collectivists love them both. Depending on who is in the White House.

I agree with President Trumps position on the completely. I spent 26 years in our great US Military.
It is long past time regional powers take responsibility for problems in their own backyard.

Syria is 100% Obama’s Arab Spring Muslim Brotherhood mess. He caused it. The flaming moron tried to overthrow the government of Putin’s strongest ally. Asswipe Obama is too stupid to realize he might as well be attacking Putin personally. putin was NEVER going to let the radical Islamic terrorists have Syria.

That is why we dont need to be in Syria. Putin will handle it if we stay out of his way.

It's a hard call because the Kurds were the good guys under Saddam. But this is NOT Iraq.....where neither Russia or Turkey were directly involved.

And are these the same Kurds that were around during the Saddam era....or have they evolved into a totally different sect with different goals. I'm not sure we know who we're dealing with anymore and I'm thinking that the President is of the same mind.

Why are we there?

Where's the damn UN. Where's Germany and all those EU countries....hiding under rocks as usual.

I told president Erdogan, 'It's going to be your responsibility,' he said of Turkey's leader.

So then Erdogan can release them?

A pretty reasoned approach:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The United States was supposed to be in Syria for 30 days, that was many years ago. We stayed and got deeper and deeper into battle with no aim in sight. When I arrived in Washington, ISIS was running rampant in the area. We quickly defeated 100% of the ISIS Caliphate,.....

....including capturing thousands of ISIS fighters, mostly from Europe. But Europe did not want them back, they said you keep them USA! I said “NO, we did you a great favor and now you want us to hold them in U.S. prisons at tremendous cost. They are yours for trials.” They.....

.....again said “NO,” thinking, as usual, that the U.S. is always the “sucker,” on NATO, on Trade, on everything. The Kurds fought with us, but were paid massive amounts of money and equipment to do so. They have been fighting Turkey for decades. I held off this fight for....

....almost 3 years, but it is time for us to get out of these ridiculous Endless Wars, many of them tribal, and bring our soldiers home. WE WILL FIGHT WHERE IT IS TO OUR BENEFIT, AND ONLY FIGHT TO WIN. Turkey, Europe, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Russia and the Kurds will now have to.....

...figure the situation out, and what they want to do with the captured ISIS fighters in their “neighborhood.” They all hate ISIS, have been enemies for years. We are 7000 miles away and will crush ISIS again if they come anywhere near us!

So true. Imagine Canada attacking/invading the U.S. Now imagine the U.S. begging countries in Europe and the Middle East to send troops over to set things right. Lol - it’s ridiculous as it sounds. Take care of your own turf.

I feel fairly certain that Trump has some sort of understanding with Erdogan regarding the prisoners, the details of which we can only speculate.

Our troops weren’t sent there to be a buffer between Turkey and the Kurds.

Execute ALL ISIS detainees

Give them their own medicine and we will NEVER
have to be concerned about any of those animals again.
Including the vile ISIS women.
Fill the ditches with the bitches.

Levin droning on about this on his show today and saying it’s wrong for us to pull out. Enough already with us draining manpower and treasure in these long drawn out Middle East conflicts which have no ending. For a hundred years this country has paid a high price for the mistakes done at Versailles in 1919 and afterwards when the Europeans carved up the Middle East into their own spheres of influence. Now we’re the ones holding the bag for the mess over there.
