Coworking startup WeWork plans to lay off up to a quarter of its workforce following the ouster of CEO Adam Neumann, according to a new report.
WeWork plans layoffs 'in the thousands', though less than the 3,000 to 5,000 number that had been previously reported, a person familiar with the matter told Business Insider.
The company has 12,500 employees, so a cut of 1,000 to 3,000 people would be about 10% to 25% of its staff.
Following backlash from investors over a dubious business model, Neumann stepped down last month, and new CEOs Artie Minson and Sebastian Gunningham put plans for an initial public offering on hold.

A fruitcake!
I think I’m gonna celebrate! Celebrate not getting it!
LOL
Today is National Taco Day or something.
All I know is I can get two free tacos at Jack in the Box with any purchase. Oh yeah, I plan on going.
Lots of hot sauce. Deep-fried greasy tacos. Yum!
The code is 530 in case your cashier asks.
I love health food!
Sounds like the electronics recycling and resale crowd.
lol
i would have to go in the mall!!
i haven’t been in the mall in like 20 years.
but two free tacos...
With any purchase. BUT you get TWO tacos for $1.29.
So, if I order four, I’ll get six tacos for less than $3!!
Wooooooohooooooooooooo!!!!!
OK I’m out the door.
lol
Yes it does.
Ouch. They got part of the investment biz right, you're supposed to give them money. The part they didn't get right was where they're supposed to give it back. OTOH, when they tell you "shares are a steal" you know they're telling you the truth.
He [Neumann] also bought a Gulfstream jet and personalized it to the tune of $65 million. Before he was ousted, the company announced plans to sell it.
Oh, well, you know the saying: if you owe the bank $100,000, you have a problem, if you owe the bank $100 million, the bank has a problem. Anybody need a ride?
I wound up in that during the time of the wun. Nothing much else was open at the time.
Talk about questionable practices and sweatshop labor.
A company I consult with moved their IT group out of the plush, modern corporate offices into WeWork cubes, and moved others into their former space. Subsequent IT group attrition rate was dramatic and the company is still struggling to replace some very good people.
Why does the world let these Svengali shysters to flourish. Old PT was right.
Parks and Recreation had the CEO years ago.

Why pay to work in a WeWork space when you can do the same in the coffee shop or library?
There are so many things in the “new economy” that I don’t understand.
Like - Why is a company that makes no profit glommed onto by investors? I guess the “greater fool” theory is ageless.
Of course the mysteries of the old economy are so much more finite - Like, where do widow socks go to die?
And just how would one make big money off of the recently single socks? Lawyers for socks wanting a divorce? Is that a thing? E-harmony for socks?
I think that’s still going on now, not to mention the movement of foreign nationals in to take over all these positions.
I agree if the jobs are made up of what is inferred here.
I did TWO orders!
8 tacos!!! Woohoooo!!
(4 for tomorrow - right now, 4 tacos and loaded steak fries)
Oh yeah, this is definitely health food. Or something.
What did it cost?!?!?
Ah, there was some 112 year old woman who drank 4 regular dr peppers a day for 60 plus years.
Doctors would tell you that will kill you in 2 years.
One order was $1.49 for 2 tacos plus 2 free tacos.
One order was $1.49 for 2 tacos, plus 2 free tacos, plus $3 for loaded steak fries.
So roughly $6 plus tax for 8 tacos and steak fries.
