On March 22, 1873, the Spanish National Assembly finally abolished slavery in Puerto Rico. The owners were compensated with 35 million pesetas per slave, and slaves were required to continue working for three more years. Long after the US had!

When I was a kid I had a pet store turtle that was smarter than this stupid girl.

It drowned in an inch of water.

aocstupid is a good keyword and a great hashtag. #AOCstupid

Not to mention a new and highly pejorative ad-hominem.

"Watch this guy try to jump the creek on a Moped. It's gonna be AOC stupid!"

“Statehood for DC must be a package deal with statehood for Puerto Rico.
One “D” and one “R”.”
*

Huh? What makes you think there would be one D and one R? They both would be D’s. No doubt about it...

All they know how to do is waste taxpayer money with this garbage, instead of accomplishing things for their Districts.

Thank you. I thought there was something in the Constitution about it, but I inarticulately described what I was thinking.

Not that the Left cares about the Constitution.

Oh, they care about it!

They hate it with a passion.

Is it not in the Constitution that DC was to never be considered for statehood? Or am I misremembering?

Like Obama, I'm not a Constitutional Lawyer, but I also believe it would take a lot more to make DC a state than a Bill passed in Congress.

There you go. Problem solved. Move "DC" to OK or KS and cede the current area back to Maryland and Virginia. The current citizens of the area known as the District of Columbia get the voting rights they covet and the new seat of government will be moved to an area less needy.

Something like the actual states would have to get like 70 bazillion percent of the post election coverage. Never gonna happen.

Yes let’s move the government! Make the mall a national park, return people and businesses to maryland control and put the Capitol in a new place that is uninhabited currently.

Greenland might be good.

There are many Federal Districts throughout the country.
Government should be decentralized, IMHO, with offices scattered all around the country. Why do you think the DC suburbs consistently rank among the top wealthiest?

Never confront the insane with facts. It is a waste of time and breath. Aim for their supporters and the media so as to expose the sheer stupidity of people like AOC, the “Squats”, etc.

The citizen’s of the territory vote then if it’s ‘yes’ for statehood, they apply to Congress which must vote yes or no...................
