Isn’t that where gun control regimes that the Left want to implement end up? Some countries allows shotguns and single shot weapons but the ability to own a semi-auto no way.

Does this poor sap actually think the government will keep illegal gun from crossing the border just like they keep tons of illegal drugs from crossing the borders which are fairly easy to detect or keep out thousands of illegal aliens from crossing the border which are really easy to detect?

Why shouldn’t we teach all youth, and as much of the adult population who are relatively unenlightened, about the customs, care, grooming, and proper respect for ALL firearms?
It is ignorance about firearms and their potential for either good or evil that is at the root of most of these mass slayings.
Firearms have a purpose, and that is either to stop a living creature from harming ourselves, or as a means of harvesting game in the field, for later consumption.
Sometimes, the “living creature” is an armed man with malice intent. Self-defense is a perfectly adequate reason to return fire upon those who mean you harm.

I have a news article in my collection that was written around the time of the handgun buyback program in the United Kingdom following the 1996 Dunblane murders (Project Snowdrop, IIRC). The article contained an interview with frontline police officers who were charged with receiving people who were turning in rare heirlooms and/or expensive Olympic target shooting pistols.
These officers said that their issue with the ban was not that it was too strict but that it was basically incoherent. They were far more likely to see sawed off shotguns or rifles (as well as knives or clubs) in the commission of violent offences as opposed to the items that were being turned in. Therefore, it is not surprising that the FBI statistics would likely tell a similar story here and now that basically challenges and contradicts the public image that someone like Beto wants to create with banning certain types of firearms.

Any citizenry being told to downsize their weapons should beware of the goals of their government. Fascists, communists and socialists want their people to be unarmed. And it isn’t because of a small percentage of people being murdered. They are looking at the big picture and so should we.
That would also ban revolvers. He’d had to go back to single-bullet guns, like the flintlock. We, as in the law abiding citizens. The criminals can still outgun us whenever they want.
Many time more people are killed by cars with semi automatic transmissions. Why do we listen to childish wisdom from kids who have difficulty finding their gender?
It’s all about incrementalism. Start with the scary (to some) looking ones and then bring the hammer down on pistols, which are much more widely used to commit murder.
The problem is crime is a BEHAVIORAL problem, not a hardware issue. There have been a number of school attacks in China and Japan where crazies have stabbed numerous kids to death with kitchen knives. Banning guns does little good, especially in a country with about 300,000,000 of them already and where it is increasingly easy to make them at home.
