Just words. Just speeches.

When they bring it back. Make some slight changes and call it a RA-16 or something.

Too many vendors with cheaper prices.

Simple economics.
But now the Colt manufactured will go into a collectible category. Pre-ban, ban, post-ban for those who follow along on that sort of thing.

Colt beating Beto at his own game. All they have to do is rename it.

If anything they have gone down.
They are so easy to customize that its cheaper to buy a lower and put the things in you want.
When Colt ended the Python, you could see the handwriting on the wall.

I always wanted a Python!

It has the stupid, non standard lower they were using at the time.

My sporter, which I got back in the mid 70's as a young teen, also has the non-standard lower/upper interface. Of all my AR builds/rifles, it is the only one I cant swap out the upper lower on with another AR because of this.

I hope they did away with that.

Clones are much cheaper than Colt.

I think so, but not sure. Of all my AR’s that is the only ‘Colt’ I own. And of course I lost everything in that boat accident years ago anyway...

Colt priced themselves out of the market.

Well, when you can get an AR platform rifle for the prices companies like palmetto state armory sell them for, who is gonna pay Colts prices?

Agree. Colt’s departure will have zero impact on AR-15 prices or availability.

Using similar reasoning, when you can build a superior rifle for the same price as a Colt, why would you pay for the Colt?

Indeed. The market moved on, Colt didn’t. Colt is now paying the price.

I live just a few miles from Rock River Arms. They’re great to deal with and my 20” heavy barrel upper is a tack driver.

When a company gets huge military contracts, its not unusual for them to pay less attention to the other markets out there. The problem for Colt will become apparent if they ever lose their military contracts. Never smart to put all your eggs in one basket.

Not only will this cut down on the availability of the AR-15, but will also make them unaffordable.

Yeah … 'cuz Armalite and Bushmaster and Ruger and Smith&Wesson and Sig SAUER and Rock River and Aero Precision and Daniel Defense and Barrett and Windham Armory and …. Yeah …

Nobody but Colt makes AR15s ...

I thought they gave up years ago? I bought my 6920 because they were giving up.

That was the story about 10 years ago. And because it was believed, the LE6920 was selling at a premium. They kept making it, although no longer with the rail mounted carry handle.

Sad, but Colt spent decades being the organ grinder's monkey in this field, and being tied to one customer - even a big one like Uncle Sugar - is a double-edged sword (just ask High Standard how their relationship with Sears worked... oh, wait... we can't).

Once ARs from Knight's Armament, LMT, Noveske, Daniel Defense, etc started showing up, Colt lost a lot of the carriage trade, so they were squeezed out of the top and bottom of the market to a degree. Throw in the fact that a lot of the younger AR market was no longer dazzled by a Colt rollmark on their ARs, and you had an uphill fight.

Sophistry and BS. Colt sucks and I hope they go bankrupt for stabbing civilians in the back.

The hell with Colt. I’ll give my business to someone who appreciates civilian shooters. I hope they go bankrupt. I’d burn in hell before I’ll buy anything else from them.

The things they made decades ago have nothing to do with this anti-second Amendment bunch running Colt today.
