Liberal comedian Bill Maher and filmmaker Michael Moore on Friday night clashed over how to defeat President Trump in the 2020 election.
During an appearance on Maher's HBO show, Moore argued in favor of liberal policies such as "Medicare for All" and bolstering "the Squad," a group of freshman progressive lawmakers, while Maher argued for a more centrist approach.
"You were ahead of the curve for so many years," Moore said on the show. "Why pull back now, Bill?"
“Because the country isn’t there,” Maher replied.
The host later said that Trump wants to make the Squad the face of the Democratic Party, adding, "I know one other person who wants to do that: you."
“People love them,” Moore said. “People of color love them. Women love them.”
Trump has repeatedly clashed with the group of freshman Democrats: Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.).
While the congresswomen are all outspoken critics of Trump and his administration, Maher questioned the lawmakers' approval ratings in the general electorate.
"They’re not beloved, these people, because they don't believe in things a lot of people believe in," the comedian said.
Maher also called former President Obama a "centrist," noting he was the last Democrat to win a presidential election.
Moore pushed back, saying that Obama governed as a centrist but ran as a populist.
"On the ballot, it said Barack Hussein Obama," Moore said. "If you're playing it safe, you don't put f---ing Hussein on the ballot."
Polling has shown that electability and the ability to defeat Trump are top issues concerning Democratic primary voters as 20 Democrats compete for the party's 2020 nomination.

Moore thought more burgers and pizza will save the democrat party and Maher thought having more sex would save the party. So the producers got some hookers and food to test out the theory.

I keep wondering why Michael Moore even wants a democrat to win. He started his career as a documentary filmmaker nailing GM executives for outsourcing jobs and closing factories, something President Trump is reversing. He pretends to still be a blue collar guy, but those people are now 100% Trump’s base. Now with his new film, he knows that renewable energy is a scam. So why carry water for democrats?
