I think FReepers named the terrorists before anyone else had the courage to. I’ve been reading through some of the old threads. The shock still feels raw.

Hi, neighbor. I think we turned toward the TV at about the same time. Then while you were on I-20 racing to work, I was on 191 headed toward the Midland mall for work, wondering what on earth was happening.

Thank you for your 20 years of service to our country.

Fort Worth. Away from my wife for 3 weeks and the first time after that I went to DFW it almost empty and eerily quiet.

Thank you. I will be reading this stuff tomorrow. Or at least as much as I can. I wish I had known about FR...I would have probably felt...well...safer. FReepers seem to have their hand on the latest information.

You signed onto FR only 4 years after I did, FRiend. I found FR through a random search for political info... or maybe it was a link from the Drudge Report.

We didn't get high speed internet until August 2000. Before that we had the ridiculously slow dial-up, so I didn't bother with the internet much until Aug. 2000. It didn't take me long to find and sign up on FR on 9/13/00. :-)

One of the most amazing 9/11 threads contained a discussion of that 4th plane that was still in the air after ALL planes over the U.S. had been grounded.

I remember FReepers in Ohio and Pennsylvania actually heard Flight 93 (that ended up in the Shanksville, PA field) overhead. It was the only plane that was still in the air over the entire U.S... just eerie. At the time, none of us knew what was going on with that plane. OH and PA FReepers tracked the plane until it "disappeared".

Later we heard about the plane crash in central Pennsylvania. It didn't take long to put 2 + 2 together, and to realize that heroes were aboard that lone plane that was in the sky over Ohio and Pennsylvania...
