They are going to have a very rough time for the next few years in the Bahamas. Like most Caribbean islands there simply is nothing there to build with.
Plus the people have no money.
When working at the joint U.S./British naval base on Andros Island Ba. I ventured out to a little town called “Fresh Creek” and made friends with some of the locals. They were so proud of their humble abodes. Cardboard and aluminum huts with dirt floors. But for a dirt floor the place was spotless and “homey”. The children were clean, well dressed and courteous. They were a happy people who had nothing, but yet more than I ever had. They were so kind and showed me around their little village introducing me to other families who were colorfully dressed, impeccably clean, and very hospitable. They all had the same dirt floored huts. Being with them was one of my fondest memories. I hope they are ok. They didn’t need much to begin with but are a resilient people and I know they will get back to the cute little town I was envious of. If only a person could designate their contribution to a particular community. I may have to go down there myself.
They are a member of the British Commonwealth. Let the BC lead the way.
Yep, and few domestic "workers".
