The rule, which went into effect in May, bans Title X family planning providers from referring patients for abortion care and also requires facilities to financially and physically separate Title X services from abortion services, meaning abortion care must be billed separately and conducted in a separate physical space from the programs family planning services.
Weve always known that absent some sort of legal relief or legal action to block the administration from implementing its unlawful rule, that providers would be facing the choice that we see today, said Jessica Marcella, president of the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA), which represents family planning providers across the country, in an interview with Teen Vogue. They are forced into the very difficult decision in deciding whether or not its best to serve its patients by remaining in Title X with all of the restrictions that come along with it or if it is [better] to forego the federal money that supports their ability to provide care to poor and low- income patients across the country.... This has always been on the horizon; its just now we have hit the week where the rubber hits the road.
According to Planned Parenthood, their facilities currently serve 40% of all Title X patients. Theyve vowed to withdraw from the program completely if it was fully implemented, while other Title X providers chose to sue the administration to block the rule. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied a last-minute appeal by Planned Parenthood last Friday to block the rule, and the nations largest Title X provider officially announced its withdrawal from the program in a press call Monday afternoon.
Due to an unethical and dangerous gag rule, the Trump administration has forced Planned Parenthood grantees out of Title X, said acting Planned Parenthood president and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson on the call. We will not be bullied into withholding abortion information from our patients. Our patients deserve to make their own health care decisions, not to be forced to have Donald Trump or Mike Pence make those decisions for them.
PP lost a total of $60 million overall nationwide and now must charge extra and cover almost over 1.5 million for each centers operating cost thru donations from libtards.Good luck with that~!
This is truly awesome!
Best President Ever!
I’ve always said that if the pro-life people can spend their own money helping women give birth and arrange adoptions, then the libtards ought to spend their own damn money helping them with abortions.
Maybe Planned Parenthood can work out a deal with Subway to take over some of its abandoned locations in gas stations in order to reduce cost.
Look...I dont want to pop the bubble of the teeny minds over at Teen Vogue but its not “a huge leap forward”. its more “Mission F’n Accomplished”.
But they thought it was perfectly legal to force Christian hospitals to perform abortions or lose funds. Or to force all medical personnel to be trained in abortion techniques or quit.
Really good and long overdue.
Reason #765486 to chant TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP!
Unless this becomes law, the next demonrat president can and will overturn this executive order. I wouldn’t celebrate too hard, although, it is a win for Trump, but only while he is in office. The demonrats don’t like their party’s money (Planned Parenthood donates to the demonrat party in a political money-laundering scheme) taken from them so they will bend hell and high-water to overturn this EO when the time comes.
