Conservatives are often puzzled about how the majority of Jews can still vote Democrat even though the party has become so anti-Israel, and tolerates antisemitism from the likes of Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). Christian conservatives also ask me, politely, why Jews are liberal. Jewish conservatives are less restrained, and often express outright frustration. Norman Podhoretz even wrote a book about it: Why Are Jews Liberals?
For most Jewish conservatives, the question is as much about pain as politics. Each of us bears the scars of family dinners gone wrong, of angry e-mails from relatives who call us disloyal Jews — and even antisemites — because they watch CNN or believe their liberal rabbi or follow the trash that the New York Times prints about President Donald Trump, the first Jewish zayde in the White House and the best friend that the Jewish State has ever had.
So when President Trump criticized Omar and Tlaib for their hostility toward Israel, and asked how Democrats could consider cutting aid to Israel because of “two people that hate Israel and hate Jewish people,” adding, “I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty,” most Jewish conservatives knew exactly where he was coming from, even if we may not have chosen those words.

But we Catholics come under more pressure during election season because I do not believe the Jewish vote can swing Any state to dems. It would have to be a Very Tight race.
We Catholics can swing state to dems if we don’t vote right.
And we go back and forth on voting D ad R.

Certainly Florida in 2000...although the Jews there (mostly from NY, by the way) voted mostly Democrat, as always, so they didn’t swing anything - but they could have there, that year, in other scenarios (such as AlGore otherwise winning the state, but Jews actually voting with their brain and voting Republican).
My Mom, God rest her soul, was a half a Jew but, was raised as a Roman Catholic because my Grandfather was a Christian married to a Jewish woman in Germany. My Mom was told by her father and mother to get out of Germany and go the the USA. She did this quickly in 1930 when she was just 27 years old, becoming a “Nanny” in Manhattan, NYC. My Grandma in Germany survived the holocaust, because my Grandfather was a highly decorated cavalry soldier in the first World War. She was sheltered in a Roman Catholic Church, protected by Nuns and not touched because of my Grandpa’s hero status. All of our Jewish aunts an uncles left Germany in the late 1920s or early 1930s. They all saw the handwriting on the wall. Millions of Jews across Europe & the USSR stayed behind and were brutally consumed by the NAZI holocaust. Such is the exact replica of today’s American Jews. I have often thought....how could any Jew ever cast his or her vote for a Democrat.

Well they’re only 3 percent of the population in Florida and pretty much 2 and less in all the other swing states
So even if they break 65/34 dem, the impact is negligible

I know SO MANY Staten Islanders who move south and are absolutely conservative.
I’m sure it’s one part of the issue but those states need to start looking at how the under 35 crowd is voting.

I do hear you...but even 2% of Florida is 100,000 or so voters, so a relatively small swing of them further away from us (just 500 of them), could have tipped it to AlGore that year. Not to mention that Wikipedia, on a different page, shows over 600,000 Jews - so figure half of them vote, then 300,000 voters. That can make a huge difference in a state as purple as Florida!

Jewish influence in elections goes far beyond the votes. Jews give 50% of all donations to democrats. If they cut off the money, the democrat party would be a regional party.
